It's not a sport any more is it? It hasn't been for quite a while. No. Footy is, pure and simple, a money making exercise. It's a money making exercise for egocentric billionaires, for refugees, for a large majority of players, for boardroom fat cats, and, above all, for sodding Sky tv. And now BT too. It's greed - pure and simple.

I despise the PL, Sky and everything they and their cohorts stand for.

We're wasting our time here. How the hell have we allowed our FL to have such huge disparities in payments ?
It's a disgraceful state of affairs.

Premier League, FA, UEFA, FIFA feck'em all.

As the article points out, in terms of inequality in the Premier League there is only a ratio of 1.5:1 between the top club and the bottom club in the division, so inequality isn't really the problem for the PL as it is much worse in the likes of Spain and Italy. The problem is that the bottom 3 clubs all receive around £40 Million and are guaranteed another £80 Million at least, either through parachute payments or through being promoted back into the PL which is what causes the true inequality in football by filtering the inequality in TV money into the Championship.

Next season's figures will be interesting because of new TV deal, with the bottom Club receiving probably north of the £50 Million mark. Probably £10 Million more for PL clubs, but £1 Million more for Championship clubs. For example Rovers will receive around £3 Million solidarity payment for playing in the Championship whereas QPR, Reading and Wigan will each receive £23 Million in parachute payments.

Hoola: This has nothing to do with the FL, this is the PL which is a separate entity of 20 clubs.

Good to see we're competing on a level playing field then Lee, I realise they are seperate entities but they are simply NOT fighting hard enough (the FL I mean).
This has now totally evolved into a financial closed shop and getting worse by the season. Similar to the Women's PL.

Hoola, as a matter of principle I agree, but what is the alternative? Close the FL from the PL which would result in the loss of funding from the PL money and the better players in the Championship jumping ship immediately as a closed off FL would mean no chance of reaching the PL through promotion.

Remember the FL is also the entity of 72 clubs, why would the clubs agree to that? Unfortunately its a viscous circle we live in and the only way to stop this is by stronger regulation and intervention from the FA.

God knows Lee , seems we're back to that FAbulously run organisation the FA who know FA and don't give a flying shite about the national game .
They are mere puppets of the PL and I spit on them............it's far too late to change anything and there doesn't appear to be a concerted attempt to even try to.  :(

Oh for just one year at Premier League level, the amount of good that money could do our club,we've got a pretty sensible board, they'd spend it wisely, the club could be built stronger at all levels, yes we'd more than likely get stuffed week after week, but just to see our great club playing the top clubs for a season would be great.

Got to agree on the funding share, but how many people abroad want to see clubs from the Championship and below?,most don't even know we exist,i'd love to see our club trying to spread the word about us around the Asian markets, and try and build us a bit of a fan base, there's plenty of mullah over there that would be better in our clubs pockets, get our team out there play some friendlies, give some shirts and other goodies out,and maybe some networking with business out there.

Since the PL call the shots pretty much, that'll never happen until the bubble bursts.
