Premier League in talks for U21 teams to enter JPT
« on March 23, 2016, 06:32:40 pm by bobjimwilly »
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/03/19/premier-league-in-negotiations-for-under-21-teams-to-enter-johns/

It's going to make a mockery of the trophy, of L1 and L2 teams when they get knocked out by the U21's, and this is aimed at improving PL U21 players, which will help them command higher selling on fees and essentially make them more money?

And the FL is considering this in return for money to improve L1 and L2 academies?

If the PL clubs want their "starlets" to have a taste of competitive football, why don't they set up their own cup competition played amongst themselves and maybe draft in a few of their old professionals to give the teams a bit of "bite"?

Great day but it's a shoddy competition until the area finals.

If most teams in the JPT had the likes of Alan Little, Colin Sutherland, Tim Ryan and Steve Foster they would soon decide to opt out again.
It's alright having a few young players but a complete team might get frightened out of it.

Yeah, this is true. It's so tedious until the area finals, I think doing this will make it worse but it's already pretty naff.

If it increases the attendances, the prize money and level of competition that our team plays against i'm all for it.

Is it not similar to Donny playing in the Sheffield Senior Cup?

If anything, I'd expect attendances to fall - how many fans of a PL team would you expect to turn up to see their u21's play v DRFC?

No, DRFC are affiliated to the Sheffield & Hallam FA and so qualify to participate in the Senior County Cup.
