There's something else appearing on the horizon too .

If you look across the leagues in europe you are seeing total domination by one club .

Bayern dominate the Bundesliga .

PSG have the French league wrapped up .

Juventus the same in Italy .

Real Madrid or Barca in Spain .

They are all starting to get totally uncompetitive .

The only serious competition these heavyweights get is in the Champions League .

All roads point to the formation of a European League before too long .

It's slightly more competitive in the PL but it's generally 3 or 4 clubs competing for the title .

Governing bodies start clipping the wings off our elite clubs and they'll be more than interested in joining a new European League .

Throw in the Amazon billions who are more than showing an interest in the football market and it will happen before too long .

You'd be more than tempted to tell them to bugga off wouldn't you if the implications for clubs like us weren't so severe .

Cracking article that and a good read .

Yep, that simple bugger off would have drastic consequences.

But its all been put on the back burner for now, and the Covid 19 issue has just emphasised how strong domestic leagues are an absolute requirement.

Greed knows no bounds but I think those of us long enough in the tooth know it is doomed to fail if the bigger clubs desert their domestic leagues.

Whether they like it or not they are integral parts of their communities and their 'greatness' has been built on over 100 years of tradition in the pyramid that has made them what they are.

Sooner or later we'll get to a crunch time when big decisions will have to be made and, the foreign ownership of our clubs might have a big say, but equally somewhere, somehow the fans will too.

What would happen when the novelty of a European League had worn off though? How many Man U fans would be content to see them maybe fourth or lower every season if the other big European teams were contesting the top places? At the minute they have a chance of three domestic trophies and bragging rights every season. Playing away in Europe would also price many fans out of away games as well.
