At last a home fixture for fans who do not go to away matches, so they can get their Rovers fix, it seems like ages since our last game at home for different reasons, the weather, and international games combining with the fixture list. The owners no doubt welcoming some revenue at last.
On paper our easiest game, against a team that have had a horrid season, and after investing in new players, and hoping to do well at the start of the season.
But, we all know how we do in easy looking games, a lot of the time we don't come up with the goods it's part of being a Rovers fan.
At the moment I am a very happy bunny, everything I wished for six games ago, consistency of team selection, being able to compete physically, and generally being more difficult to beat have allowed us to go on a little run that has lifted the threat of relegation. Now I want us to kick on and finish the season in the same vein, and encourage our supporters to invest in next season's season tickets with some hope of us doing well, allowing the owners to release the funds for Fergie to tweak the positions we are not so good in.
It looks as though we may have picked up a few injuries yesterday, so may need to bring a couple into the team, but I hope we keep changes to a minimum apart from injury, and don't start changing for changes sake.
So, What would you do?
Who would you bring in?
Will Fergie change the team apart from injuries?
Will our home crowd keep up the decent average gate numbers nearing the end of the season?
Please feel free to have your say.

I’d start Anderson if Wright is not fit, I’d keep Houghton and Whiteman together. Play Tommy Rowe at Left back and Mason at right. Beestin and Kiwomya, Coppinger if fit enough and Marquis.
-
I would go along with that Steve, I thought that Whiteman played well when he came on, but also agree with a poster on another thread that McCollough was probably our best player in the first half, and could only see injury as the cause of him going off at the time.
Houghton is a good defensive midfielder, but my mate has pointed out, much of his good work is limited to 20 yds each side of the halfway line, and he offers little in the attacking third, and is not blessed with great pace, which limits his game a little.
-
Luke went off as Fergie thought he would get sent off and wanted to avoid that.
I would expect at least 3 changes no Wright due to injury as well as no Blair also to injury.
I would expect the same as Steve plus a win puts us in 10th on goal difference.
Can't wait to get back to the keepmoat missed her
-
Surely Butler will start in place of Wright?
I've almost forgotten what it's like to go to a game it's been that long. Bury might feel less pressure now they are down but their manager ripped into them to the media after yesterday's damning defeat. So maybe they are broken men and we can pick them off to surge ahead into the top half.
On a miserable day in Bury earlier this season we played pretty badly and won due to them being even more inept and having a man sent off on half time. Losing Beckford to a season-ending injury didn't help them either. We struggled in the wind and rain but clearly have gotten better since then and Bury obviously haven't or else they wouldn't be where they are now.
-
Yes there is often a "pressure off" bounce for lots of relegated Teams but I am hoping that our form will do for Bury even with a couple of injuries and allowing for their "bounce" if there is one
Like you I cant wait - actually seeing a live Rovers game after all this time ! 3-0 for me and a good finish to the Season with a few more wins - will probably have us asking on here - what if ??

We could play a left back for a change Tyler Garrett for one last hurrah?
-

Might there be any chance of Andrew being ready?
-
It depends who is carrying an injury I suppose. Pretty certain we won't see Blair and Wright. Butler is pretty certain to start. I don't know if Kiwomya and Copps will manage a full game and might start on the bench. Whiteman and Beestin should start and I wouldn't be surprised to see May partnering Marquis up front.

No if ready he is getting 45mins in development game at Mansfield Tuesday afternoon
-
We should target practice, 3 up front and fill our boots .
-
He may be a goner at the end of the season, but I would prefer Williams to May up front.
-
Really? wow, you've kept that a secret.
-
Simple , he is a better partner with Marquis.
-

Rowe is wasted at left back...

Your probably right, but at the moment who else would you play there? Its obvious Fergie does n't fancy Garret since he got ripped a new arsehole at Scunny
-
I think some of us are getting ahead of ourselves.
Just because Bury are relegated doesn’t make it an easy game.
Manure had an easy game against WBA didn’t they.
-
From what DF said, it was touch and go whether Marquis played due to hamstring so its not certain he'll play on Tuesday. Similarly he may rest Rowe who also has a similar niggle. Copps is due a rest so we might see a few changes.
-
Really? wow, you've kept that a secret.
Hahahaha, f*cking brill, RedJ.
-
It is getting boring, I don't even have to put any bait on the hook and the same old big ones take a bite.
-
Aye, shit this people having an opinion that's different to your own lark, int it?
-
See what I mean?
-
Completely different to you taking a massive chomp every time Mandeville is mentioned, eh?
-
In last weeks discussion on Kiwomya, someone said they didn't see him as a second attacker alongside Marquis, but more of a right sided midfielder.
On Saturdays showing, I can see what the poster is getting at, he started the game off very poorly at MK Dons, and did not touch the ball for ages after kickoff, but when moved wide right came into the game, found room to run into behind the defender, and played a large part in the build up to our first goal.
Perhaps by default we have found his best position at the moment, where his speed can be put to use while he builds up his upper body strength.
-
You definitely like the last word RJ, or try to have it. Just a minute I will have to go, my rod is bending in two, must be another big one.
-
Cool.
-

Rowe is wasted at left back...
I know that in fact I’ve said on several occasions from the start of the seasons we needed another left sided player. It didn’t happen so DF doesn’t rate Garrett and having seen in development games I can see why. So that’s why have said Rowe there.
-
Yes Garrett is probably going to be listed I would think..DF has no faith in him that is obvious with his team selections..
As for Bury,i wouldn't underestimate them, they have now been relegated and the manager gave them all a pretty stinging public verbal attack after Saturdays match..Slamming the amount of fire and passion they have shown..Whilst on paper we should beat them. They might show a reaction to that and most of them know they are on there way out so need to show something to potential employers...So it wont be a walk in the park if we give them something to hang on to..
That said if we get a early goal,i think they will crumble. So a fast start is crucial..We have a lot of games coming up in a short space of time..The more games we can put to bed early and take it a bit easier the better...
-
If Blair and Rowe are both missing we are short of full backs, either genuine or make-do ones. Anyone know if Alcock is near fitness?
-
Dutch, I don't know what Garrett has done if he has had words with Fergie, but he has not done as much wrong in games as Alcock, be it in development or first team games, and I would play him every day before Alcock now.
-
Selby neither is good enough for a starting or squad place so we will have to see what DF does if we are without other players. No time for accepting second best if we want to finish with good results, which ever team we are playing.
-
On the other hand, as we are going into a Saturday Tuesday ongoing cycle until the season's end, what's the point in risking our most important players?
After numerous discussions on here, we all should know, by now, that we don't possess a substitute for either Marquis or Rowe. And we haven't had a ready replacement for Andrew since last September!
It's pretty obvious where our priorities are for reinforcements in the summer, however, in the here and now, we shouldn't be taking any unnecessary risks with JM or TR.
Hopefully, they have responded to treatment since Saturday and are available, but if not, they should be rested on Tuesday. If that is the case, we have a serious problem on the left side - no left back or midfield player, unless Garrett does in fact play. As for JM, we still have Williams who does give us height, at least, if not the level of intensity of JM. At full back, if Garrett isn't considered, then there is only Alcock left!
Of course, the manager could end up opting for a back 3, with 5 in midfield?
-
I guess it depends on how DF see's it..He might be looking at the fixtures and the amount of home games left and thinking you never know and takes the chance on going for it..
Highely unlikely I know if not bordering on the impossible but every now and then it happens to somebody..Maybe he will take that chance on Tuesday and if we don't win then taking the more conservative option going forward..
-
There's always one that gatecrashes the playoffs. May as well go for it if it's still there, especially now we're as good as safe.
-
When he came back into the team, Alcock had performed quite well.
I would have no hesitation in playing him at all.
As for Marquis, if his hamstring is a potential issue then why not rest him tomorrow and play Williams.
AW would be a similar replacement and for me anyway, a better option than May.
-
I would like us to keep as near as possible to the side that has played over the last few weeks to the end of the season, injury allowing that is.
Obviously that depends on form and staying free from injury, Boyle has played as a left sided defender in Ireland earlier in his career, so may be a surprise pick there if we are struggling, Andrews maybe nearer fitness than we realise, which would be a big boost for the club and himself, and I don't think Garrett has let us down when played anyway, and then you have Rowe, although he gives us more further forward.
Ben Khemis is a possible for left sided mid field if Rowe is utilised as a wing back. Marquis would be the big miss, as we have no like for like player, although Beestin and Kiwomya would be an interesting combination to see how it worked out, although if we kept Williams because Marquis could have left at the start of the season, we may as well get something out of the wages we have paid him, and he would be trying to impress any watching suiters.
As I said, hopefully minimal changes from Saturday, but it could be interesting and give an indication of Fergies future thoughts.
-
With the number of games, is it something like 6 in 18 days, coming up I would expect some changes to the team anyway.
Knocks and fatigue will inevitably take their course.
-
Joe Wright looks out for rest season? We have cover.
Blair is fit for tomorrow.
So changes may be minimal.
Joe is the only player not available tomorrow.
Danny Andrew and some senior players are likely to be in the development game at Mansfield tomorrow afternoon.
-
I wouldn’t be surprised if Copps was on the bench tomorrow, disappointed but not surprised.
COYR
-
Wasn’t it six games before the end of last season when players started being unavailable for the rest of the season.
-
One player who has not been mentioned is Rodney, who cane on as a substitute the other week, looked like one of the few players with the skill to run with the ball and beat a man on a poor pitch, and was a real threat down the right side.
-

Yes qute a few because I think quite a lot of Players were "put in the shop window" or were given the opportunity to play for their places for this Season.
Unfortunately our performances slid away as did the Championship but this time round I think we will be aiming to get as high as possible and hopefully will go a strong as we can for as long as we can
-
Rodney has been, so far, the biggest disappointment wrt signings in the summer.
He looked to have something back when we played at Arsenal, but the rest of the season has only showed the odd bit of skill/determination.
Have to improve on him, massively, this summer.
-
Alan, he is a very young player, one with a lot of ability, but is not confident enough to trust that ability, and has been coached to pass and keep possession at all costs.
We have invested a season in bringing him up to division 1 standard, which he has struggled with admitted, but I know that it maybe controversial, but he is one I would be interested in bringing back next season.
He would not be the first young player to suddenly come to terms with mens football, and I will admit I would have made a mistake with Mason at the end of last season. I didn't think he would come on as well as he has this season at right back. Rodney looked a lot more comfortable at I think it was Gillingham when he came on.
-
Will there be many there tonight? good chance for a half decent crowd and atmosphere
-
Like most supporters I left the ground thinking how did that happen, but was I surprised no, we are Talking of Doncaster Rovers, the only professional team, apart from Arsenal, that can give so many points away while dominating a game of football.
Bury must think they could play us every week, and must have had all their luck for the season in one game.
At least we didn't rescue a defeat from the game, and are still on an unbeaten run, the best of the season, so things are not that bad, but it was a very disappointing result, although the game had periods of play as good as we have played all season, and as a game quite exciting.
Matty Blair had a shocker, do I blame him no, picking him in a position he cannot play is not his fault, and with good defenders like Baudry on the bench beggars belief, people have hit back when I suggested him being played as a right sided defender, saying a centre half cannot play full back, I wonder if anyone told Paul Madeley? one thing I am certain of Blair can't, but Fergie must think he can.
Lets hope for a better result on Saturday, if we defend better, but play as well as we did in periods of the Bury game we should have a chance, let's hope it was a blip and we can improve our points tally.
-
it happens in football. we should have scored more we shouldn't have conceded a pen and their 3rd should have been rule offside. was a good spectacle though and the booing was totally uncalled for

listening to DF interview I don't think Blair will be right back on Saturday
-
Selby, Baudry wasn't in the bench he was missing entirely therefore can't have been fit. Blair is our only real option at right back until Andrew is fit which frees Mason up to play there. We absolutely need to bring in a new full back on each side next season to avoid being in this situation again.
-
Didn't realise that RA, I thought he was a substitute thnks for that. another night we would have won at a canter but hey ho on to the next game.
