Rovers 18/1...

...to win the league on the handicap with a 28 point start.
My advice is:

GET ON NOW AND GET ON LARGE!!

Who with tt, that's the best deal I've seen anywhere! a score almost buys the season ticket when it comes in.

A word of caution. The same bet last year would have lost by a 14 point margin. Are we 14 points stronger than last year?

I usually reckon that handicap betting really IS a mug's game.

A) Last season, a 28 point start would still have left us 13 points behind Newcastle and 3 points behind WBA, even if they didn't have a start.

B) There's always some lower club who comes through and surprises. Look at Blackpool last season - they probably had as high if not higher a starting handicap as us, but they beat us by 10 points over the real season.

Might not be bad value this season though for us. Sporting Index has our total points prediction at 58.5-60. Middlesborough who have a zero handicap have a predicted points of 74-76. In fact, if you take the Coral handicap and add it to the SI predicted points, we'd be top of the league by about 5 points. Looks like good value.

The pundits in the Racing Post seems to think so, they say Rovers are a 'handicap snip.' Plus the consensus is our league will be pretty tight this season.

Another word of caution.

You're not just betting against the league winners, you're betting against EVERY other team and their handicap start.

On the plus side you can bet each way aswell don't forget.Anyone who bet on Blackpool each way last season will surely have made a profit.

think donnyjay hit the nail on the head with his comment
about your also betting against rest of the league with the handicap system.

So just to clarify is the only way you can lose this bet is if any team above your final finishing position at the end of the 2010/2011 season is more then 28 ponts in the front of you the bet is a loser

Yes that is correct, unless a team with a higher handicap rating ie Scunthorpe finish above us. Otherwise the vet is a winner. I've had £30 ew.

Noooo it's not correct sorry. Each team is handicapped a certain number of points. You have to know what all the other teams handicap is.  Teams like QPR and Sheff U are giving Rovers an 18 point start on the handicap. So I think we are a great bet at the odds.
