Rosso Main unhappy with Rovers?
« on September 11, 2017, 07:16:37 pm by RoversAlias »
Just following coverage of tonight's Meet The Owners on Twitter, just seen Rosso Main's account reply to the official Twitter with this:

"Any chance DRFC can start supporting local grassroots football please. #nolinks"

https://twitter.com/RMFC1919/status/907302043206942720

Wide of the mark or a cause for concern? Pretty certain Rosso are one of the teams we have visited for a pre-season friendly in the last few seasons, something the club does to help put money in the coffers of these local clubs, so it smacks perhaps of cheekiness on the surface to me but I don't know the ins and outs. Anyone got any better insight?

Perhaps a preseason competition involving all the local teams including DRFC .

How about Rovers coaches involved with the development of local teams, not just Rosso, coaches training coaches? Or younger members of the youth teams being loaned to these sides? Could this work?

I know Rosso Main were trying to forge a join-up with the rovers on something but it didnt happen.  Could be that.

Loaning youth lads to them will not help the development of our players, the standard is poor round here with Armthorpe and Rossington.

Yeah, absolute disgrace that these local grassroots clubs run by volunteers with next-to-no funding and little support aren't delivering professional standard players for Rovers to cherry-pick every year.

I'm all for supporting grass roots football but if our coaching team feel that our youngsters are of better standard than the likes of Welfare and Rossington we shouldnt be expected to loan them out to them.

First and foremost its about DRFC and our youngsters. The old saying... charity starts at home.

It wouldn't have been good to watch if you were a defensive coach.
