I tell you what, as stupid as that seems he is exactly the kind of player the national side need.

Sadly theres more chance of Rooney not having to pay for sex than there is of Copps playing for Englaand

Why is he the type of player the national side needs?

What the national side needs is youth, so that we have a young side ready for the next world cup.

Copps is 29.

Conspiracy theory

I think he is trying to lose the Carling tag. He should be honoured to be linked to such a legend  :P

I admit, I'm not easily lead. Should every Rovers fan be a happy clapper?

The Championship is the fourth best league in the world so id dare say if there was a England side picked from the Championship they'd compete with most and give everything unlike so off the prem top stars do for the three lions.

on that score who would your England Championship side be?????????????

One of the Championship's best hidden secrets...!!!! As opposed to what other type of secret? Even Rigo can do better than that so should have no problem getting a job with the DM.

That's a good 'un!

I'll throw a few names into the hat:

Kieran Westwood

Jimmy O'Connor (I know he played under 21 for Ireland but he's eligible!)
Matt Mills

Jamie Mackie
Adel Taarabt
Copps

Strikers are a bit tougher to think of - there aren't many stand-out players in this division.

Have they played full internationals for those nations?

If not they're as per JO'C.

EDIT: Sorry, just checked, I thought Taarabt was born in England to Moroccan parents. My bad. Also Westwood has played 5 games for his grandmother's nation (Ireland). I really ought to check before posting!

I suppose that's the problem with picking English players in the NPC - a lot of them will qualify for other nations that they have a chance of representing so they'll be inelligible.
