As you all probably know by now (and if you dont, what is it like on the moon?) Billy has indeed signed, pending a medical.  A press conference is scheduled for wednesday.

Also, Simon Gillett has agreed to sign, and three loan players have also agreed to come.  No specific details as yet on those.

Today really is a hugely significant day in the history of our great club.  Today is the day that we step up to become a major force in this division.  Enjoy that thought.

Judging by that it doesn't mean 5 are signing today though, I wouldn't be surprised if others aren't announced, but we can hope.

If they have indeed agreed to come on loan, then there's nothing stopping us from saying x, y and z will be joining from 'such and such a date'.

It would just help to increase the pulse rate, for us lot on here, a bit further and crank up the interest in the general Doncaster public.

It has to have an influence; the trouble is if people are pink lint, there's not much that they can do about it. But there will be others who are sat waiting for something to happen, for the Club to 'show their hand' as it were.

It's not really happened for the last few seasons, rather there's been a gradual build up, with players joining us at various stages. The impetus (kind of) gets lost with that scenario and generally it takes time to build up the interest as it becomes known that this or that player is something special. If they're announced together and its made clear what sort of calibre we're talking about, then it simply has to have an impact.

Today is a bigee, make no mistake about that, as the price tag alone will open a few people's eyes. I go back over 40 years supporting the Club and I never thought I'd see the day when DRFC splashed out more than a million on anyone! And I'm a regular supporter who tries to keep up to date with what's going on. It's had an impact on me, so just imagine what effect it will have on 'Joe Ditherer'.
