Watering hole - Pre Sunderland
« on April 11, 2019, 04:00:26 pm by WSBBA_Ben »
A few of us are popping over to Seaham for a few pints and fish & chips if anyone fancies hydration and a sing song. It's 15 minutes outside of Sunderland, so we're camping out there for a couple of hours from 2PM.

I’ll be in Seaham pre-match and in Dempsey’s sports bar which is along the front. A couple of good fish and chip places and other more up market places if you fancy that.
I know most Yorkshire clubs pop to Seaham on way to Sunderland.

Seaburn is nearer to the SoL and nicer than Seaham. Seaham is veritable shit hole. Seaburn is lovely with great fish and chips.

It was 14 years a go granted. I have always preferred seaburn and it's a stone's throw from the Sol.

Yeah it’s changed a lot since then. By the harbour there are boutique and coffee shops and on high street some lovely bars, quality fish and chip shops and food establishments. I’ll definitely be in Demseys sports bar from 2 ish. If your with the family you could certainly make the day of it.

I have lived in seaham for 6 years now and seen a big change for the better. Some great pubs down the front and Downey chippy is well worth a visit

Downey's fish and chips!
Excellent fare
Generally Seaham is a nice town and a couple of fantastic sculptures
And it used to have 3 pits in the town

How's everyone getting from Seaham to SOL ? Going up in car so is it easier to leave car there and catch train

You could do either car and train, but I think the drive would be easier as it’s only 10 mins away and the trains aren’t too regular.

Wheat sheaf near the ground apparently lets away fans in. Or did when Bradford City played there a few weeks ago.

Granny Annie's on Roker beach is worth a visit. Good food, good views, good beer, unusual decor and good all round.

Was great to meet everyone before the game. Dempsey bar smashing little pub and a great pint shame about the match afterwards.
