If that's the case then what did we not even get £2m for Marquis

Brilliant, a nonsense article from a nothing website about a completely different team still manages to inspire a post having a go at Rovers within two replies.

Although the article is nonsense I still think they will struggle to keep hold of tony in January he as all the attributes to become a top championship striker and they alone are worth £15 million in this silly market

Posh do sell for more than most teams in our division, getting 7m for Marriott makes the 2m we got for Marquis look like a bad deal. Doubt they'd get 20m but wouldn't be surprised if they got over 10m maybe closer to 15m. No doubt they are talented players who could play in the division above.

Clubs have been interested in Maddison for a good few years now based on his on field performances. It's when they check him out off the field and how he integrates with the rest of the squad, how he would integrate into their team, his general fitness, eating etc that they quickly go off him.

As regards Toney, only ever seen him play twice and that was against us and tbh he has impressed me, he was everywhere on Saturday, certainly in the 1st half anyway.

I have a good opinion of Toney as well.
He is a handful to play against and always looks as though he has a goal in him.

I’m sure I read their chairman out on Twitter that Maddison’s buy out clause is less than £3 million. He’s a top quality player that will be in the championship soon enough. Does seem like a kn*b though.

Am I the only one who thought Toney looked like he couldn't be arsed for most of Saturday, and when he could be arsed the only place he ended up was in John's pocket?
Last season he was just a mardy cheat doing his best to get out players sent off...

They have been touting him out there for the last 5-6 season, its no coincidence that there have not been any takers to date.

At this level, his statistics are absurd. Whether he can cut it above is a different question.

Maddison is good for 8 figures.

6 of them were the various figures he assumed after James belted him with that Mester's tackle and he squealed like a bairn falling off the causey for the first time and rolled about in a "big boy hurt me" stylee.

7. Diving for a penalty.

8. Standing on the touchline, one hand on hip, the other tugging on his hair as the existential dread overcomes him while watching Coppinger and thinking: f**k! So THAT'S how you do it. I'm really not very good am I?

Toney looked like their only player likely of hurting us, yes he took the foot off at times but he remained a threat throughout. If he’s of been in our team that day he probs would of got a hat trick

Maddison has 5 goals and 6 assists in 9 league games this season. Am sure we could iron out some of his behavioural issues if he signed for us!

Maddison reminds me of Cotterill.  Unplayable when he’s on it, anonymous when not..

While £20 mill is wide of the mark i certainly dont think we should be laughing about it.In those 2 they invested money in them in the first place. Are now reaping the benefits of the most lethal strike force in the division Saturday withstanding. They also have the security of a bumper pay day when they move on..

In comparison we have a couple of young lads on loan we probably paid a decent loan fee for,who we will be spending good money on developing to hand them back for nothing in 8 months time...

It doesn't take much to work out which is the better approach as far as i'm concerned..

Agree even if they get 5m for them it's serious money at this level that can be used. We won't get that if we are so reliant on loan players for our quality.

However i doubt we pay a loan fee. I'd expect we'd just pay their wages or a proportion of them for the season. If they were older established players maybe there'd be a fee but it's in the big clubs interest to get unproven players developed and we're getting a bit of history doing that now

Madison did a Q&A on Instagram the other week and it was very....weird.

Something you'd see off a 15 year old lad.

Frankly i would be amazed if we weren't paying a loan fee for them it seems standard practise for young prem players these days.Posh chairman on twitter has moaned about the same thing which is why he says he wont take any..

It’s all part of the negotiation process, get in early telling all who will listen the high valuation you have. Peterborough will not even achieve half of that, but will get more than what they should.

Not all the premiership teams charge a fee. Depends on the status at the parent club of that particular player. Although both Wolves players would be worth whatever fee we have/might have paid.
