They were on about how the weather forcast is being used to get people on board with global warming.
They used to use a smiley face for sunny weather now it is a big swathe of red for danger, think of the gas that is being saved, it will make you feel a lot better.

I think breaking the all time temp record for the second time in 5 years is a pretty good signal of global warming.

Does anyone old enough remember back to 70s & 80s when all the talk was all about the coming ice age and not things getting hotter and hotter? Things have changed ain’t they.

There's no doubt that there is climate change. There always has been.

This heat that is coming is unusual for sure.
There are parts of the world that deal with this day in day out though. Pretty much all of the Middle East for instance.
We just are not equipped to deal with it are we?
A bit like snow and ice in winter.
We enjoy a temperate climate for 99.9% of the time.
Back to rain on Wednesday.

Acid rain, ozone layer, Donny a seaside town, record hot weather blah blah blah.
My mum was pregnant with me in the summer of 1976,she says it was from May until end of September.
I remember the six weeks holidays as a kid being scorching every year.
Watching euro 88 and Italia 90 absolutely dripping.
Who remembers FA cup final says being red hot in May?

here's some more

''Over the last 60 years the UK’s climate has been shifting because of climate change.

However analysis by the Met Office reveals that the shift hasn’t been even across the UK with some regions experiencing more rapid change than others.

Comparing two 30-year periods (1961-1990 and 1991-2020), the average temperature of the UK has increased by 0.8°C, rainfall by 7.3%, and sunshine by 5.6%.

Temperature rise has been greatest across parts of central and eastern England where temperatures have increased by more than 1.0°C in some locations including, Bedfordshire, and Leicestershire. While further north Scotland and Northern Ireland have seen temperatures rise by closer to 0.7°C''

Can we talk about how hot it was for the dinosaurs and how big they were and how much vegetation and huge trees there were. If only they'd have adjusted the boiler thermostat a couple of degrees lower and cycled to work instead of driving. Selfish bas**rd s those T Rexs.
Are we still technically coming out of the ice age?

If I was engaging your last post, I would have quoted you.
I merely posed a couple of questions to get the old grey matter juicing..

Not saying your post is incorrect anyway, but again, are we still coming out of the old ice age? We know weather events are cyclical.

Ah, I see, can you answer a question that sort of determines whether there is a reasonable conversation to be had or just give up on it.

Do you accept that we (man) have had a direct effect on rising global temps and we can change the future by the majority of countries in the world taking action?

I'm glad we had a little rain and grey cloud this morning, at least it's kept the temperatures down a bit before the heat rolls in.

Down south I think it's been  pretty much wall to wall sunshine all week, so the ground will be very dry and warm already.

Hopefully in Yorkshire we will get away with a couple of hot days and difficult nights before the weather breaks and it rains on Wednesday. Hot but not too exceptional, fingers crossed.

I avoid holidays in those sun traps, I'm too fair and I can't take the heat. I'm not overly thrilled at the prospect of regular Egyptian style heatwaves during UK summers.

That looks like what it's coming to though.

Just temporarily maybe. It's more likely our UK weather will get wetter and even more temperate. And then at some point the gulf stream will go leaving us in much much colder temperatures. Swings and roundabouts... or umbrellas and winter tyres with snow chains and studs?

All that is not so true for some parts of the world though. Sydney to become a firepit?

Do you think the Rotherham game could be called off or put back to Wednesday as the temperature will still be 33 degrees at 7pm on Tuesday, sitting in the east stand will be horrible to watch the match with sun in your eyes as well
