Right Back
Left Back
Centre Half
Midfield tough guy/playmaker
Target man ala Chris Brown
Thoughts;
-
1xright back with pace, 1xleft back with pace.
2xdominating centre halves, 1xball winning midfielder and one strong knows where the back of the net is striker.
You did ask
-
A new defence and strong midfielder
-
We need a number of quality additions and I'm confident we'll get them. I won't repeat the ones already mentioned above but would add that we need somebody else with a bit of guile in the final third.
At the moment we rely on Coppinger and he stands out a mile with his ability to make time and space and do something out of the ordinary. Mandeville may progress along those lines, but either way I think we need to add another option with some creativity and unpredictability. Coppinger won't play 46 x 90 minutes.
-
For me we need a new centre back to go alongside Baudry plus a quality left back.
-
11 x backbones.

he won't go for Brown he said he is injury prone, he knows as he played for him at preston
-
Think he meant in the Chris Brown mould
-
Fergie needs to be going all out and searching for and paying big money for Copps's eventual replacement. At 36 he is still by far our best player and without him this season we have been utterly shite. I think the step back up to League 1 may mean we see even less of him due to his understandable fitness issues.

Were we shite when we got 7 points from nine ,when he was suspended? Or when he missed the 5_1 win at Grimsby?

Isn't Marquis very similar to brown??

john akinde would be a great signing

john akinde would be a great signing
We will sign Keshi Anderson, probably on loan, and Paddy Madden.
-
Well looking at who has been released and told to find new clubs, Apart from Goalie and Centre Half we need players in ALL positions he thinks. I applaud his actions re Grant who I did say much earlier did not appear to want to be here. Now others thought so too

I do not know about Madden, he done good at Scunny BUT we have to wait to see what their chairman does mean when he says "He will look after players when he sees which league they are going to be in".
-
if grant was going to sign he would have done it months ago.
-
I've heard the Madden thing too. Does that have weight to it?
-
Very TRue, never been a team player this time round IMO
-
Donny were interested in Madden a year or two ago but he went to Scunny, he a bit of a naughty boy...But Both teams now in same league so would not make sense IMO
-

I've heard this from a couple of people too. One quite close to Scunny told me a couple of months ago that if they failed to go up then their chairman wouldn't be going all out again so that could add some weight to it.

Would fit with the striker with name beginning with M thing going on (Marquis, Mandeville, May......) :chair:
-
A new defence to play with baudry. A new holding midfield, 2 attacking midfielders and a striker.

So that's why he's getting rid of Williams, his name doesn't fit 😀

Anyone else think he may use McCullough as a defensive partner to Baudry?
Luke can obviously play defensive midfield if needed but I can't see him being first choice. Especially now Keegan/Middleton/Grant could go, I think he'll go after two or three quality midfielders.
-
I think that is a strong possibility. A lot of top managers like defenders who can play football and it's very common to see midfielders make the move back. Milner at Liverpool, Mascerano at Barca...
Luke obviously a defender by trade, but can play the ball, same as Baudry. Think it would make a good strong pairing, with the addition of two full backs
-
I didn't see Luke play on Saturday but apparently he was poor - however I do rate him in the defensive midfield role. He certainly can play with the ball at his feet, and IMHO isn't tall enough for a CB. That said, I would be happy for him to play there, but DM would be my first choice position for him.

One person who could be coming is from scunny played on Sunday and that's all I say...bearing in mind his son was at my lads party Saturday!!
-
So which Scunny players have sons then 🤔
-
And has already been mentioned in this thread a number of times. Hmm.
-
He might not mean Madden?
-
Absolute priority - LB, RB and a big unit at CB.
Next priority - someone who can dish it out in midfield (we don't have one) and a quick wide player.
After that and the icing - Pacy striker.
2 or 3 loaners, maybe a couple of good non-leaguers with potential and we have a squad again.
-
#drfc boss DF says he was hoping for confirmation in June that the Premier League club will loan the previously mentioned striker.
Keshi?

You do realise there's a section of the forum specifically for things like this that you could post this in?...

That rules out Madden - he doesn't have any family over here does he? Hmm.
-
Centre half?
-
Aaron Pierre - left footed center back for Wycombe. Out of contract I believe and has League One/Championship interest before. Good header and pace to burn apparently.

He was useless when they played at our place.
-
Did he not also save a certain goal with a brave goal line clearance? He's been highly rated for a while, looks to be a strong lad at the very least.

Keshi?

DF is interested in signing Alistair Brownlee..................................
in case he needs any help in getting over the finishing line next season.
