Title: Marosi again
Post by: djoftherovers1 on September 22, 2018, 06:40:11 pm
How many times Is he going to come out of his box for the ball and get beat, god knows what he was trying to do today. It's a good job he's a good shot stopper cos apart from that hes useless.

What? Are you serious? How can you honestly describe Marosi as ‘useless’?

Some absolute wet flannels on here who must walk around town bumping into lamp posts.

His kicking and distribution is generally excellent. He comes out to catch balls from crosses/corners quite often and his shot stopping is excellent. To describe him as useless because he's mis-read a few situations is just ridiculous.

Can't agree with the OP. Marosi's all round game is much better and he comes and catches the ball without fuss which obviously goes without notice by some. Yes, he may have done better with the goal today but he was not to blame.

There aren't many better keepers in this league.

4th in league , playing some of the best football in years , what is there to moan about ?
Some people on here seriously take the biscuit , Marosi as been fantastic this season . If you want something to moan about go get a season ticket at new york

You watched the whole game and that’s the only comment you wish to make given his otherwise exceptional performance? Joke.

He's saved more points than he's cost us already. He's one of our best keepers in the last 10 years.

I agree that he’s been quality. Let’s not forget. So was lawlor and Marko got his chance to give lawlor a rest    Let’s not be blinded. It might be good for him if there was a change for a game. But might focus him and keep lawlor happy.  It can’t be easy knowing you’re number 2 with no chance of being number 1

What planet are you on? what team is gonna drop their number one just to keep the number two happy or "change for a game"?

Marosi has won us games this season. Best keeper in league 1 imo. Granted he makes some odd decisions at times but frankly don’t we all . Awesome start to the season 👍😀

Thought he was quality today personally due the diving save in 2nd half was a favourite

I was talking to a Bradford fan on way home and they rated him

Yes he dropped a bollock, not the first time, not be the last time. Alas thats the trouble with being a keeper, it can cost you a goal. Yet he's saved us so so many times, but, we should be worried about the attention he's getting.

The mistake today was that he thought the ball was going to bounce, however the BC player somehow managed to control it more by luck than judgement which left Marco in no-mans land. Marco is becoming one of the best keepers we have had in recent years JMHO

From the South Stand it did look as though Marco had misjudged the long ball, but.....
I just looked at the highlights and the Bradford player just got to it first and his touch was enough for him to be able to get past Marco.

have to agree i remember seeing him in goal away at Bristol on a Tuesday night  in an F.A cup reply an he would not have caught a cold that night never mind the ball , but he has come a long way since then and still very young for a keeper , his performances will not be going unnoticed as well.

I was talking to Russ Wilcox yesterday and in his opinion, our defence is the best in L1.

He is turning into a very good keeper yes he will make the odd mistake and 95% of the time we will get away with it, but the amount of goal scoring saves he makes, and positive action he takes I.e getting it out quickly helped get us the 2nd goal today.

Hopefully he will be with us for a good few years yet

You could put Joe Wright and three traffic cones out there and we would keep clean sheets.

'useless'? Too much pop and not enough crisps for the OP I think.

Marosi is easily one of the best keepers in the division, I've lost count of the number of saves he's made that have left my jaw on the deck. He's won far more points than he's cost us in his time here (and other assorted football cliches). The best keepers in the world make mistakes from time to time, so to expect a League 1 keeper to not do so is ridiculous. Seriously now, do people forget that we're in League 1, because I can't come up with another reason for comments like these. Context is so important but just seems to go out of the window most of the time.

Personally I think he's probably one of, if not the, most improved players for us over the last couple of years. Seems to be going from strength to strength.

If people say Bradford’s goal yesterday was down to Marosi instead of the efforts of the striker, then please can the OP explain exactly how many points that cost us.??

However, there is some truth in the op's sentiment, in that yesterday's game was probably his worst this season. From what I watched in Tuesday's Development game, he needn't worry about his No1 tag just yet, though.
Title: Re: Marosi again
Post by: drfchound on September 23, 2018, 06:48:22 pm
Marosi made two outstanding saves yesterday so if that adds up to his worst game of the season then he is simply a victim of his own success.

However, on the goal we conceded, had Marquis nicked the ball from the opposition keeper like that and scored we would be singing his praises.

Post by: Alan Southstand on September 23, 2018, 10:56:05 pm
But he didn't and we weren't! If that had been an opposition keeper's error, we would have been having a laugh about it.

If the conclusion is that Marosi was at fault for their goal, so be it.,

But what difference did it make?  One less plus in our goal difference and no clean sheet..

Big deal - I would rather consider his perfornance vs Shrewsbury for example, where he definitely earned our point..

His distribution was key for the second goal. He was straight up and looking for a simple but fast outball.

Marosi is our established no1 and rightly so..Goalkeepers at all levels make the odd mistake but boy has he been brilliant for us this season..Lawlor had a very iffy performance the other day in the development game by all accounts as did the rest of the back up squad...
The O/P is away with the fairies if he thinks Marko has let us down this season...

Shop stopping he is excellent. The rest he has always been poor at
coming for the ball from crosses how about that for number 2 and as far as coming off  his line, if he had not done that when he was sent off we would of lost that game.

As I've said earlier, I dread to think what could happen to this team if we don't go up this season. Marosi is one of those who are getting noticed by other clubs higher up the pyramid. We could end up with 4/5 players going. We are the team others don't want to play at the mo.
An old friend has watched us twice this season, hes from Sunderland, he hopes we get a couple of injuries and suspensions when we play them. He'll be back for a final look v Fleetwood. The player he most wants to miss the game..... Marosi.

Marosi is definitely our most improved player this season. Whiteman also stepped up several gears and as for Andy Butler, he is having a stormer at 33! Very impressive from him.

I think a big factor is that they understand the system and have confidence and trust in their team mates.
We are also working far more without the ball than we were under DF.
