After all the interest in doing a big flag for the Palace game, I can confirm that it has been designed and ordered! Between this and the TIFO that Lee is organising we should see the stadium in a sea of red and white, ready to cheer the boys on to a famous FA Cup victory and no doubt drawing Wimbledon in the 6th Round. Woo hoo.
A number of people mentioned donating to the cost (these things certainly are not cheap!), so I've taken the liberty of setting up a GoFundMe page if anyone would like to make a donation. All donations gratefully received, small oor large, and every penny will go towards the flag costs (after GoFundMe take their fees)
If you would like to donate, then please head across to https://www.gofundme.com/drfc-fans039-big-flag-appeal
Thanks in advance if you are able to contribute.

Hopefully I can make round 6.🙂

Done - come on lads help this cause over the line .
One thing can we make sure this flag doesn't go missing - even if out of date I'm sure they can be used in the concourse or even auctioned ; I've forgotten how many flags we've all put in for over the years . They are part of our heritage.
Btw a big thanks to Rob for putting his hand in his pocket and sorting this out for us all AGAIN :)
-
Brilliant Rob, thanks for making the effort to do this!
My £5 is in
Paid my contribution.
-
It’s a great idea , the old shirt flag could adorn some of the wall space on the south stand concourse perhaps?

my response was to your idea about hanging the shirt flag up in the concourse, would look great!

I'll be on a P & O ship off Norway so not sure about reception.
-
You will get the game via satellite if you ask nicely, what ship are you on
-
The Oriana. Never been on it before.
-
Nor me but they will put the football on for you
-
My fiver is in, nice one Rob.

Then there is the Comrade Ryan one if someone hasn't binned/ lost it ? there are loads of places for these flags

Cheers Swifty. I'll try.🙂
-
The crowdfunder has gone over the target
-
Great news. There really seems to be a buzz building up for the game.
All we can ask is that the team and the fans give it their all on the day.
-
I was on the Britannia during the world cup I never missed a game
-
Wow. The original £200 target has been smashed through in just half a day. Thank you all so much for your generosity! We truly have the best fans in the country, no doubt about it. I've stretched the target to £300 in case anyone else would like to contribute. The flag is costing in excess of £1500 so any more donations are gratefully received.
Rob
-
Jesus i didn't realise you were putting your hand in your pocket to the tune of that much!!! The donations might have been higher had you put that on the crowdfund page. Fair play to you mate.
-
Maybe the players might chuck a few quid in if one of them had the tweets sent over.
It is for their benefit after all.
-
Have u won the lottery rob?
-
Are you paying for this yourself Rob?!

This one can't go out of date Hoola, we've designed it so that it can be used every week and for as long as it keeps in reasonable condition.

Is the Rovers badge on the big flag the badge thats on the back of the south stand, thats on the black bank flag??
-
Is it the badge on the big fag the badge thats on the back bank flag at the back of the stand??
Rovers Alias........dare I ask what this means?
-
Are you paying for this yourself Rob?!
I bloody hope not. We're doing this as a bit of a "contributions from multiple sources" project. A bit from fans who can spare a few bob, some from the VSC coffers, and hoping to twist the clubs arm... Ahem... benefit from the club's generosity of spirit, to get this one over the line.

My lawyer has instructed me not to comment on this one I'm afraid Hound.

Brilliant!

I noticed JR made a contribution.
-
Yes, I noticed that. Lovely gesture and good to see him supporting the club. I hope he's relaxing and enjoying watching the boys. I wonder if he'll make the game.
-
Not a chance, Non Season Ticket Holder didn't go to the Oldham game, never get a ticket :chair:
-
Pity its not this weekend as big Model Railway exhibition on at Racecourse - so he could have done the 2 !
He may come this weekend to Posh game of course but hope score is not Double 0 (sic).
-
Chucked a tenner in to make it £300
-
Wow!
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.. The stretch target of £300 has been smashed through (thanks AndySly et al), but I've had messages form a few people asking if they can still donate, so I've created a new £400 target just to be a bit clearer.
The response to his has been phenomenal. Thank you to everyone for your support on this. Its going to be ace!

Do we have a plan of who takes care of it/ store it ?

Do we have a plan of who takes care of it/ store it ?
We are going to store it at the stadium, Dave. i imagine even a tightly packed 40ft-ish x 50ft-ish flag will be a struggle to get into most car boots. More will follow once we have it in our rovers-mittened hands regarding volunteers to help get it out and pack it away at matches, which shouldnt take too long with a bit of fore-planning.
-
Rob, what happened to all the flags that were stored under the SW corner of the South Stand.
I can remember seeing them there last season, stashed in a box to the right of the tunnel (on the way out).
Not sure if the bigger flags were there but it was great when they were waved about.
Wasn’t there a complaint about them blocking people’s view of the pitch?
-
Hound,
We tried to keep track of the flags we had bought when Ryan Murrant was at the club, which was frustrating. The large revolution flag was still there but the shirt flag went missing and then suddenly reappeared.
None of the flags are current today so the opportunity to fund a new one is timely.
I hope people contribute and then participate. Help would be most welcome.

SM, the flags I am on about are the ones that we used to wave about from our seats in the South Stand.
Most of them were just DRFC ones, rather than anything more specific.
Maybe you are talking about the same ones, I am not sure.
There looked to be quite a few of them in that storage area under the SW corner.
There certainly looked as though there were too many to “lose”.
I will bring my own to the Palace game I think.
IMO having flags around the ground seems to add to the atmosphere.
-
Just giving a nudge
-
Any pics of flag?
-
Any pics of flag?
As they say in the army, “wait for it laddy”.
-
We will not see it in the ss as we will be under it no doubt 🙂
-
You'll be on the photos. ;)
Planning on surfing it round 3 sides of the ground now it's a sell out if we can, so you will see it.
-
Have we got a running order for flag and TIFO?
-
Flag in the build up to kick off, TIFO just as they're coming out I'd imagine?
-
Yep. Flag from about 3.30 I'm thinking.
-
Final bump. We're pennies away from our target......
-
Just thrown in a Fiver, look forward to the big reveal on Sunday , RTID

I'm afraid you're going to have to wait. We may do a teaser or two on Friday, just because that's the 1st day we can get to see it ourselves.
-
Let’s wait until Sunday.
-
I'll give you a clue... it's red and white.

*other colours are available.

Black Bank Rovers Badge on it?

No, standard one.

And I've just had confirmation from the courier that the flag was delivered to the stadium at 2pm
This thing is happening, folks. Its here. No more "I'll believe it when I'm stood under it" necessary.
The plan is to start surfing it right round the stadium from about 3.30pm, so we will need a few volunteers to ensure it goes happily on it's merry way, starting in the East stand, round the south and up the west.
Can anyone spare 20 mins to help at 3.30 on Sunday? We'll only need a couple of folks
-
I'll believe it when I'm sat in it.
-
Following the big flag, we want everyone in the South Stand to hold the TIFO card up as the players enter the field.
The dream is for the BBC cameras to use this as the backdrop as they confirm the line-ups.
So if you are in the South, please don't swap your card with someone else, and as much as the temptation might be there, don't make a paper aeroplane.
:bbscarf:
-
Not until after the TIFO anyway.
-
Well done you guys, really looking forward to seeing all of this
-
Yep Rovcon just gone up a notch .
-
Any volunteers to help with getting the flag ready? I think there's 4 of us so far so a couple more would be greatly appreciated.
-
I'll get in ground with Grandson at 15:30, if you need a hand.
I'll be in East for the day, South STH's but wanted to make sure he could see.
-
The giant flag looks the f**king business...
Well done to everyone involved

On the previous page.

Best flag was that one c1995 on Pop Side. It absolutely stank.
Next best definitely the John Ryan - August Revolution flag that convieniently disappeared when he fell out of favour in the boardroom.
-
Be nice to get the Barnsley game 12k plus as well. They will sell out no doubt.
-
I suppose I will get slagged off but I was disappointed with the TIFO - was expecting DRFC which when done that time looked great
This one (constructive comment) seemed really bitty and we were trying to work out what it said and honestly we could not tell West Stand half way line
Only when I got Twitter on after game on way home that I could see RTID .
Hope I dont need the Chair :chair: - we are all Rovers aint we ?
