Title: “We want this place banging & bouncing”
Post by: Alan Southstand on July 30, 2023, 09:59:20 am
There’s a challenge for the South Stand / Black Bank!

A very good post PV game analysis from GM and very honest. Some players need to be very mindful of what the manager is saying, as they’ll not be here much longer.

I think the last time the stadium was ‘banging & bouncing’ was back in 2016 when we played Premiership side Stoke City in the FA Cup.

Crouch ‘scored’ an offside goal which was allowed to stand then Tyson equalised to make it 1-1 at half time.

Walters got their winner with a 25 yard screamer as the game moved into the last 10 minutes.

There were two huge flags waving in front of the South Stand & we played really well having a couple of chances to equalise in the dying minutes as Darren Ferguson brought our secret weapon on from the bench….Curtis Main.

Always remember that game and thinking, yes we will kick on now and make the playoffs! The rest is history and we went down

I think by the following game (Gillingham at home) we had lost 2 players to injury and another 2 in the warm up or early in that game.  I might be wrong but didn’t we pull back to 2-2 against the Gills who were doing quite well at the time?  After that everything fell off the proverbial cliff..

How about a couple of matches last time McCann was here back in 2019?

The Oldham FA Cup game

The win over Coventry last games of the season that confirmed Rovers place in the play offs.

... and amazingly (given I wanted a Draw) Nathan Tyson missed a chance in added time from corner of 6 yard Box then with Added time almost up Andy Butler headed over from I bet 2 yards out.

If you'd have said I bet you 100 grand you can't miss he probably would struggle to miss

Then when I checked Super6 some lucky person had won 250k and had Rovers 1 Stoke 2. Jammy b****** I thought

Yes definitely those two. You could add the Charlton 2nd leg playoff as an away bounce. The first leg seemed quite a nervous atmosphere.

So, now time to guess how many will be there to bang and bounce.

Worth noting, in McCanns first home game v Wycombe, following that 3-2 win at Southend, the attendance was 7,122.

Races are on too but providing we get semi decent weather I'm going for 6,971 (550 Harrogate)

I hope grant is patient with the crowds/fans and doesn’t get frustrated. We’re in a different place to when he was last here and it’s going to take time.

ST heavy around there. Probably the only place full when hardly anyone was going back end of last season
