Quite apt he finds himself at a seafaring town really. Should fit in well.

Good luck Charlie

BTW what is it with us and right-back swaps? Last season we swapped Knoyle and Brown with Stockport (I know it was only loans with Brown), and now Hartlepool with Sterry and Seaman.  :silly:

I think this is Grant admitting he got the new contract wrong and I’m all for it! Better now than giving it 10 games then admitting it.

Good, ruthless decision making.

Good luck Charlie.

He was never a right back imo and Grant might have been advised wrongly when giving him a contract. Hope he does well at Hartlepool

I always thought there was a good player in Charlie trying to get out. However, as I’ve posted previously his versatility is his downfall as he’s not good enough to be a specialist & has been used primarily as a hole plugger, coming in & gap filling rather than get a run of games on his own ability. He’s very reminiscent of Dave Mulligan but Mulli had more about his game where he could be utilised in midfield as well as at the back. I’m sure he’ll carve himself a decent career elsewhere but with TB’s funds coming in Grant has got better players. It’s a tough profession to succeed in. Good luck Charlie.

This is the difference TBs extra budget gives us. GM gets it wrong and finds CS doesn’t fit his requirements and he can replace him with another player.
No chance we could have done this last season.

Could he be the first with a couple of others to go the same way ?

We now have a massive squad for this level, competition is now high in just about every position, we should now reap the benefit of TB's cash injection with the better quality of players driving up standards.

I imagine the injury to Lavery and the lack of fitness of Reo has prevented just this. After them is possibly Long.

Folk are being a little unfair on the lad here - he isn't a bad player and gives plenty of effort. His time will come I think..

We’ve had plenty of square pegs rammed into round holes the past couple of seasons, Molyneau as a wing back, Tommy Rowe left back & central defence.

I don’t know what Charlie Seaman’s best position is but I’ve seen a lot worse than him in the hoops.

Good luck Charlie, hope you kick on.

Big season for Charlie this, to be fair he’s come back from his holiday looking like he’s lost some weight. Last season he was at time’s blowing out his rear. Think his game time would have been very limited with us and as he showed last season he needs a run of games. Agree with previous comments regarding his versatility being a blessing and a curse. My Poolie mate has already been asking questions about him and is still gutted that we’ve got Sterry

Good level for him. I think he got a one year deal so if he has a positive season he’s just about still young enough to suggest he could have a football league career ahead of him, but unless he nails a starting spot there and does well I think that’s it for him here. League One is probably still beyond him (when, not if we get promoted) even if he excels at Hartlepool but could still play himself into a contract elsewhere.

Top signing for them if they play him as a wing-back / wide midfielder.

Good luck to him. Great news for us, McCann not putting up with low quality and moving on. Totally different from the last 2 years where any rubbish was tolerated.  :woohoo:

His problem is he dribbles before he shoots.

McCann obviously didn’t trust him to keep a clean sheet.

His performances were a bit inconsistent. Sometimes he was impotent, and other times he showed plenty of spunk.

Few concerning remarks about Sterry and injuries/fitness.

The new boy made an impression against Wednesdays, certainly better than what we had post Knoyle, so if either play I can't see it being a bad thing.

Charlie played 60 odd minutes for Hartlepool in their friendly 2:1 defeat to Harrigate.
