I remember someone in the West Stand nicking one the opposition were using not too long ago, so he’ll be pleased lol!

Good. Anything that stops the time wasting and speeds the game up is a good thing.
Some common sense at last.

I wonder if GM will do what he did in his last stint as manager here and have the advertising hoardings moved in closer to the touch line when the opposition has a long throw in specialist, giving them less of a run up?

That was funny and bizarre at the same time. It highlighted the timewasting element of the game but bizarrely the referee added to that, instead of saying just get on with it, he stopped play to allow Wigan to get another towel!!

A true pantomime moment and credit to our fan for doing what everyone wanted to do!

I think the ballboy had a go first if memory serves. Was it McLean the Wigan player?

The easy way to have stopped the towels would be to place a bucket of water at four points along the touchline and have the ball boys pour the water over the towels while play is on going, you can’t dry a ball with a drenched towel

One of the best names ever for a football player.

Some common sense at last.

Except Teams will then deploy the "two balls on pitch at same time" routine

Only one way to really eradicate 95% of time wasting and you all know I know what it is

No it was McClean but yes with a dry towel he did have Max Power.

It was definately Mclean who took the throws.

There's been various discussions about statues over the years, but if there's one that's needed it's one of the Towelgate hero poised mid-flight back up the West Stand steps with the offending item billowing out behind him like a looted Roman standard.
