Andy Thompson ,Chief Groundsman rejoined us six weeks ago ,back from the Owls after a sabbatical of two or
three years .Welcome back Andy ..no place like home !
-
If you visit the forum Andy would you explain the renovation that is ongoing and in particular whether or not the semi synthetic surface is still to be maintained and even how that works ..
-
Wasn't Hillsborough pitch the worst it's been whilst he was there? Also ours has been great whilst he hasn't been here?

A lovely welcome message.
-
I sometimes feel I should do more to try to help some people in their desperation.
-
Just goes to show that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. ;)
-
Is it just me or was the pitch the best it’s been last season then the past 6 seasons , keep the bloke from last year if it was me
-
I think I am right in saying that the pitch was highly commended last season..........and that we have just ripped it up, headed up by the new groundsman.
-
Is the present groundsman still with us? he's much improved the pitch.

They re-lay it every season. This season was the best it’s ever been though.
I played on it a couple of weeks ago and it’s horrific to play on. Rock hard.

Why would they though if it has been highly commended last season.
Isn’t it a waste of money to do so.

Welcome back Andy.
He might be doing a U turn & heading back West to Sheffield after a comment like that.
Unbelievable. Oh dear oh dear there is no hope for some is there. Permanent negativity.

Don’t think it’s being negative but just stating facts. Last season the pitch was in great condition throughout the whole season... Idd be keeping the bloke responsible for that.

Seems strange to employ a new head groundsman if we have. Would be a complete waste of money..... maybe last seasons groundsman has left, hence re employing Andy.
-
Ask Andy by PM on here if you know his avatar or use his twitter account which is in his own name like I did to welcome him back.
-
The current groundsmen has gone, hence Andy returning.

Who has the previous groundsman gone to work for SM?
-
A lick of paint to the changing rooms, which are exactly the same as they were in the 70s and a bit of crush and run between portacabins are not much of improvements to the training ground.

Completely agree, the comment wasn’t negative at all. Why are people so defensive about the club without knowing any facts to even argue their point?
Losing our groundsman when the pitch has been in the best condition I can remember and replacing him with someone who doesn’t seem to have had the same success clearly doesn’t appear to be a positive thing.
-
Who ever and what ever has been done the last 2 seasons has been great. Even when it's been used more when the Dons have been on it looks excellent.
Yes it does come across negative however it is stating what has happened since he left to Hillsborough.
-
Has last season's groundsman left of his own accord or is he on gardening leave?
-
He was put out to Grass
-
He shouldn't just be turfed out like that.
-
I heard he was a right sod.
-
This thread has gone to seed.
-
They got Andy back for his experience. Other chap was a bit green.
-
Been in Sheffield I heard. Blade?
-
I heard he ignored all the rules, and didn't believe in conventional ways of doing things.
He was a lawn unto himself.
-
Nothing to do with white lines i hope?
-
Now is not the time for throwing mud around
-
Certainly no evidence to soil his reputation like that.
-
Yeah, but the awards showed that the pitch last season had the markings of being a good one.
-
He was found to like the Grass a little too much.
-
I'd heard he soiled himself
-
There's some rye comments here.
-
There's an article in the Free Press where you can Weedall about it.
