I have just bought my £10 virtual ticket ( proceeds to DRFC) for the FA cup game at West Ham .I received an email which I had to recover from Spam ...so check yours too.
-
Done the same for me and Mrs D. It’s the closest we can get to being there.
-
Just done mine too, great initiative and will hopefully help the club resources :rtid:
-
done
-
What is the difference between this and watching it on Fa player?

About £10.....
-
Hopefully the West Ham fans will support this and give us a bit of backing as other clubs have in the Premiership who have drawn smaller clubs.
-
Bit of wishfull thinking there Selby
-
What about a program for the game as well
-
Yes just bought ticket

It's nothing to do with actually watching the game. It's to help the club out and you get some rewards. It's a good idea and something more clubs I'm sure will be doing after the success Marine had with their virtual ticket promotion for the Spurs game.
Full details: https://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/news/2021/january/i-wasnt-there--but-i-would-have-been/

Did you win on Lottery today as well ?
-
RR, Marine sold 30,000 tickets v Tottenham and Cheltenham took over£20,000 v Man City in 24hours aided by the Tottenham fans and the Man City fans.
-
It’s going to “ virtually cost “ our club nothing and it Donny Rovers with coach travel and a hotel in London I’d assume.
-
Anybody know how I can do this but assign the name to someone else ?
-
Done
-
Anybody know how I can do this but assign the name to someone else ?
They'll need an account on the ticket website, then you can assign an owner.
-
Good idea this. 2 bought in our house.
-
Just got mine.
-
Bought.
-
Done

Done
-
Has any 1 put word out to West Ham fans on there forums ?
-
Would be very decent if West Ham gave us their prize money if they do beat us. They’ve just trousered £25m for Haller so would barely notice it has gone.
-
Done.
-
Done I went to the last league game v West Ham at Upton Park a terrific day we got there early and walked a fair way after parking up in a nhs car park newsagents off licences and allsorts selling programmes as you walked up the road
-
Great idea
-
Can someone post the initiative onto a West Ham fan site
-
Put it on their face book page
-
Don’t use Facebook
Have sent the admin of their fan site an email.
Can someone else stick it on their Facebook and Twitter?
-
I know quite a few people in the fan groups at West Ham. I’ll sort something.
-
Done - have fond memories of that game at Upton Park it was my late dads last away game he went to watching the rovers before his illness struck and he caught pascal chimbondas shirt which I still have at home framed and he had a bit of a soft spot for the hammers so I’m hoping come 5 I’ll be toasting a Man Utd / Liverpool round 5
-
Let me know your seat number, I will try and get a ticket near you!
-
The link has been hash tagged on WHU official Twitter account, so i guess their fans will have seen it.
-
Tried buying mine yesterday afternoon, but the payment page wouldn't accept/kept freezing. Will have another go later.
I think it's a good idea for a good price and, of course, excellent that all proceeds go to the club. :bscarf:
-
Just purchased, had the game been on ifollow I would have paid a tenner anyway to watch it, so its a no brainer for me
-
They did pay nearly £50m for him so a slight loss
-
I’ve paid for one. Good idea by the club I think.
-
To answer a couple of quires above. It's not on the FA player it's on the BBC iplayer free. Also you do get a programme with this offer. I bought mine
-

I had to register as a new account to buy mine. It wouldn’t accept either my supporter number or the password.
-
Odds to win 10/1....seems a very good price!
-
I’ll have a fiver on that
-
Wolf I did win £25 quid on the lottery today but the club is well in credit with my donations this season .I have an I follow season ticket and topped it up to the cost of a normal ( in stadium) season ticket .I think this current initiative is great and if the idea is broadcast widely we could get enough donations to cover the team’s travel expenses for the game .
-
Well done - I also won but way way down the list - a Free Draw
Still I cant complain lol
-
Done, hopefully at least 1000 of us do it. Good idea and a good way to raise some funds for the club
-
Doing mine this afternoon. Would be nice to get a big uptake, but as always just remember a lot of people still on furlough, insecure work etc. so we need to be grateful for what we get...looking forward to it....
-
Over 500 purchased now. All our circumstances are different, but if you could help that would be nice. RTID
-
I don’t think that anybody expects fans who can’t afford to pay to join in.
We are all Rovers fans together and like society in general some are surviving better than others. Let’s hope that the lads can do us proud on Saturday. :scarf: :scarf:
-
Just so I’m clear, this doesn’t give you access to any streaming of the game or does it? Or is that just via the bbc red button
-
Just so I’m clear, this doesn’t give you access to any streaming of the game or does it? Or is that just via the bbc red button
Correct.
It's basically a fund raiser with a few perks. Only way to watch the game is on bbc iplayer.
-
Is it a paper match programme or just an online one , I presume we get contacted to pick the bits and bobs up from the club Doncaster reception for those who haven’t chosen it to be posted out
-

Thanks, thought this was the case. Good way to raise a bit of cash for the club
-
Got one.
-
Can’t see many West Ham fans buying when you need a customer number to log in and purchase
-
Can’t see many West Ham fans buying when you need a customer number to log in and purchase
we must be able to get this taken off for a virtual ticket or we will lose money
-
Yep I rang today for a ticket for the wife ( got mine yesterday ) and was told the second ticket had to be in my name again as the wife was not on the database ?
-
If it was the other way around and I had to get a virtual ticket from another team as soon as I got to the make account page I would just give up, the simple answer is if you want take up from people that don’t ever use us, make the process as simple as possible
-
Head bang moment. Total West Ham sales will be zero. So stupid.
-
So Tottenham Fans can buy tickets off Marine and we stop West Ham from buying from us, unbelievable Geoff.
-
It is probably something that the club hadn’t thought about.
Maybe now it has been highlighted something can be done about it.
-
Hopefully Hound, in fairness it is probably more to do with online fraud because of payment cards and a secure site for transactions.
Not easy to circumnavigate I guess if so, Manchester United have fallen into that trap.
-
Silent Majority has put it on twitter with a message to West Ham fans .
-
Deadline for this is 5 today apparently.
-
Sorted
-
Over 850 sold , deadline has been extended to 23/01 , 3pm
-
It will pay 2 of our highest paid players weekly wage at least. Not quite the 300k Marine made
-
Don't have to register as well , made it much easier to pay
-
That int important as the whole city must have done it we are a small town compared to them. I would not knock our fans putting in £8500 to the club it is tremendous
-
I wonder if we’ve had much take up by West Ham fans sinceit was made easier and less restrictive to purchase, I can’t believe such an important detail was overlooked
-
At least it will work better for the Liverpool game lol
-
This customer number is so annoying it just causes problems everytime I try to get something and it will cause loss of West ham Sales
-
I just tried but I am at work and can't get the number so I will try again tonight.
-

I re-registered as a new customer after it kept declining my number and password.

I find the bills for us to compete in this game astounding. Don't get me wrong I am not getting at anybody but the FA for one cost that I will explain.
Fylde I think it was last year were hit by an unexpected bill of £9000 for the use of VAR which was their share of the cost for a televised game v a Premiership side away where VAR is used, the same with us on Saturday, when every other game we play doesn't bloody need it, and is the better for it. Fortunately the premiership club they played picked up all the cost.
Two things, how do they warrant that much money as a cost for ninety minutes? If it's that good how do they get so much wrong? Add the cost of transport, coaching staff and teams travel independently, and individual rooms in hotels instead of sharing putting up the costs to the clubs because of Covid which can't be avoided. The money that TV puts into the game has saved it at the top level, no doubt about that.
And this initiative by the club needs to keep going with the help of the fantastic West Ham fans who have contributed as well as our own brilliant supporters to help the club reach the standards they need to be at and cover costs, and we have to realise that with no paying fans at matches, overheads don't disappear and in a lot of cases costs get bigger.
-
Well said Dawse. Everything is against us in terms of leagues apart, “possible”VAR contribution, finance, travel & not even mentioning the talent that West Ham have. I’d like to applaud every fan who could afford to contribute & has helped the club in this way. Boy we’re up against it as we can’t fill the subs bench. Let’s take it to them Donny and do our little club proud. RTID

850 tickets sold. not very many is it?
-
£8,500.
Do we just get a third of this though?
-
It looks like take up from West Ham fans is poor
-
£8,500.
Do we just get a third of this though?
Excellent question. I don't know. Jeez I hope not.
I was expecting a hell of a lot more than 850, at least a couple of thousand in total.
-
£8,500.
Do we just get a third of this though?
Its our clubs initiative, its all ours
-
I hope so Filo.
I was just thinking how usually, after expenses the gate money splits three ways with both clubs and the F.A. taking a share.
-
Finally got mine today but for the next round after we knock West Ham out, please remove the supporters ID number so the premier league fans can buy the tickets you can put it back afterwards.
-

Excellent question. I don't know. Jeez I hope not.
I was expecting a hell of a lot more than 850, at least a couple of thousand in total.
Half the country is furloughed at the moment it unemployed, plus kids etc won't take part. I think it's quite impressive considering that.
-
That number is well out of date, and well over a thousand now, it's brilliant and nothing to be ashamed of at all especially taking into consideration how Covid and the short lead time to set it up and teething troubles might have affected it.
Things like this are all about communication which we are not the best at, disrespecting anyone not aware or who can't afford or who have any other reason not to contribute is way out of line, for those who have many many thanks for your generosity.
-
850 was the total 2 days ago so should be a few more since then
-
Anybody else had an email from the club about the programme? States that the number is over 1000.
-

Yes i have just had the email, really good, the extra money will help out.
-
I hope so Filo.

It isn't gate money though Idler, it is our own club's idea and initiative so we can do with the money what we please. The club just dubbed it a "virtual ticket".
I think the take up has been really good and the money will help us out. It's a lot better than £0!
-
It looks like take up from West Ham fans is poor
I wonder if there is a "fanzine" network that we could use to plug the ticket?
-
Yes it says on my email that it’s over 1000 with digital programme and interviews with DM and CJ.
-
Mine sorted.thank you Tracy.
-
I haven’t had an email about this.
Also, I would imagine that many of our fans who would have actually gone to the game don’t read this forum and probably never read the DROS.
-
Which e mail haven't you had the original one advertising it or the later thankyou one?
-
I haven't had any emails about this at all which seems odd as I often get emails from the club.
-
Just to update everyone, so far we've sold in excess of 1100 virtual tickets with the number close to 1150 with another 18 hours to go.
It's a tremendous result, and in financial terms it would be equal to, or even exceeding, the gate we would normally expect if playing somebody like Blackpool or Bolton on a Tuesday night at the Keepmoat.
But I'm sure we can do more right?

That’s good Martin.
Come on guys, let’s give this a final push and see if we can get nearer to 1500.

Ive seen a Tweet or two from West Ham fans who have bought virtual tickets to help out Rovers and they say Clubs further down the pyramid need all the help they can get
Good on them !

I’ve just been in contact with Shaun Lockwood at the club and the final total raised was £13000.
Everyone who was able to and donated towards this I’d like to say well done and thank you. RTID.
-
These virtual tickets could be done for any important match of course .Imagine filling the VIRTUAL South stand with 4,000 tickets for the Hull match .What do you think ? it would be a great gesture of gratitude for the club’s investment this transfer window and throughout the Covid closure .
-
Mine has just arrived. Hope we get a result and progress to play either Manchester United or Liverpool away.

We could carry on with the Fund raising if people who wanted a Package were matched up with those like me who have one but dont need it
Fix a price of £5 (or whtever people think) and those who dont want them donate packages to Foodbank via Silent Majority and jimmydee an people who do want them donate a fiver and get a package in return
Good idea or bad idea ?
If good idea is a Fiver about right ?
If anyone wants mine I will gladly hand it over to them for a Fiver and hand the Fiver to Foodbank lads asap
