The football looks a bit crude too.

Good luck.

Never a penalty, the bloke kicked the defender and then fell over, an example of a linesman being conned if ever there was one.

Blackburn bloke dived for the penalty and the linesman fell for it like an idiot.

Two very poor sides. You can see Deano has stamped his authority on it. Route 1, up over and at em boys, crap to watch but are they the type of players that suit route 1 stuff? Deano not only has got to convince the players this is the way to play  the supporters have to go along with it as well.

"We should have won"
"we were very unlucky"
"They never really troubled us"
I got two of his quotes before he came out with them.

3 wins and everything will be fine Deano 3 loses and it will be panic stations.

Yes Dikos I had written it before he said it. You're  not telling me that was a good entertaining game of football if you are then we have different standards!

I am no longer bitter in fact I am very pleased with the Twins taking over. I really do hope they succeed and I will be there tomorrow to celebrate them breaking that record.

It may not have been, but he's just taken over a side that have just lost to a side 3 leagues below them and one that's been dreadful in the league.
I think we know now that good entertaining games of football aren't high on deans agenda, results are.
I'll be down there with you tomorrow mate

The thing that gets me about complaints about the quality of our football under Saunders is this:

Count up how many excellent, really excellent performances we saw in O'Driscoll's first 16 months. I suspect you'll not use up the fingers of one hand. Definitely not the fingers of both hands. And THAT was after taking over a stable, relatively successful club and chucking money at it.

Saunders took over a club in a shambles. He played unattractive football. And won pretty much exactly the same number of points in his first 16 months as O'Driscoll did.

O'Driscoll took a lot of time and a hell of a lot of investment to get his side purring. Who knows what Saunders would have done with time, stability and money?

Yet many people on here will not swerve in their opinion of Saunders's style.

He'd have done better if he'd left Sako out.  He is a shocking footballer.

I actually liked the football we played under Deano this season. There's satisfaction to be had in watching a sturdy, well-drilled defence perform their tasks to perfection, while the team battles and scraps and plays for each other. Just because it wasn't 800 passes on the halfway line doesn't mean it was bad football. Of course there were times when it didn't work, but every team has that. The team was a well-oiled, clinical results machine, and I personally enjoyed that and hope it continues. I've rarely been as chuffed as I was after the Notts County game, when we went there to a promotion rival and didn't even let them have a shot on goal til after 80-odd minutes had gone.

And anyway, I presume these people slating the style of football were doing the same after SO'D had left, because they'd spent the last 6 months watching an ineffective dirge where we'd pass it around the back four then aimlessly lump it up to whoever was playing up front. Yet all we hear is how SO'D stuck to his principles and had us playing well and losing. By the end, the standard of football was woeful, AND we were getting pasted every week.

He took us as far as he could with the resources he had at his disposal, if only we had got Gavin Baldwin in sooner who knows where we could have been now

Possibly top half of the championship but we arent so onwards and upwards

If you are someone who chooses entertainment over results you're a mug of the highest order.

Results will get you money, points, promotion. Not entertainment. Football is a results business end of.

You reds

Totally agree that Saunders, if he chooses to spend some time developing his own team, who knows how far he can take them.

The contrast between SO'D and Saunders is there for all to see. You take your choice and decide between the 'right way' or the way
that gets you results.

In my view, SO'D could coach Barcelona, Deano could manage Stoke City but there's no way you could switch them around.

Perhaps the tw of them will make a good partnership.
