I agree. Using the third personal plural verb form for a singular object is very poor journalism.

I suppose it is quite clever really as it made me read the article. My first thought was that The Major had been scaremongering again!

As Rovers play Friday night, maybe a few of our fans will turn up Saturday and give their support to Bentley Colliery in their current plight.

Instead Of turning up after phone calls ofvsaid damage is reported.i have
An idea catch the fcukwits while they are doing it ,which of Course
Means police will need to be sat waiting nearby.

Whats the Police motto  to protect and to serve

Greatest post of the year. Mind you it's been a poor standard this year. What do you do for a living BST if you don't mind me asking?

That would mean they'd have to do some proper police-work, Oslo. And that would never do!

And while they're sat around doing that, might there not be some other more important things they should be doing to protect and serve? All very well if you got coppers to spare, but we haven't and their numbers are being squeezed all the time. So much for Greasy Dave's promise before the last election that frontline services wouldn't be compromised.

I would be willing to sponsor a Sniper with a few good leg-shots.
Honestly, it would't take many blown out kneecaps to stop the t**ts. We'd have to Make sure to put up warning signs to comply with K NEBOSH guidelines though.

What would you call important Police work are Police tied up with that they
Cant do a fix on Bentley FC .

If an house alarm Goes Of whatever time Of day,Its, not as if thre blues
And Two's can be heard  near by within 15 mins is it.

I know what i would do if i ever saw a neighbours house or my house getting done at night.i call the cops happy mondays style and say Their is a house getting robbed and i think they are armed with a knife or a gun

Even knowing i Cant see Such a weapon since Its dark outside it can work
Both ways as. Police would be there in record time.

Cant nick you for thinking you saw a gun or having bad eye sight can they.

Lots got to be said for return Of the local Bobby pint the streets.it will not clear them up but it would go a long way ands ave money in the  end

I am not proud of the fact I have little or no confidence in the Police full stop...In my life my house, work have been robbed a number of times as of yet, not one of them ever could be arsed to come out and even talk to me never mind investigate...Quick crime number over the phone and that's the sum of there efforts....

Once I had just done a six month tour of duty abroad,on my return home I hired a car desperate to get home and was done at 3am on a Sunday night for 86mph on the M1...by some jumped up arrogant copper who thought he was one step away from god....

Others will have better experiences i'm sure but when someone who has never been arrested in there life has no confidence in them....just who does???

I'm not too sure you'll find any takers for that assumption about better experiences WC! Almost 40 years ago now two coppers did deal nicely with a very unpleasant and unfortunate situation I found myself in, but since then? Without exception, every contact has been tasteless, ineffective, puerile and pointless. And plenty have been nasty as well. I really cannot think of one positive experience in 35 years now. Why do the silly buggers think most people loathe them? They must be blind as well as thick. (That's what my Dad used to say - almost all coppers are not too bright. And he should know).

The police are no different to any other group. There are good bad and indifferent. I used to train in a police gym and knew loads of them, most were ok but a few were not so nice. The son-in-law is a police inspector and as nice a guy as you could wish to meet.
They are just as frustrated as the public as how sometimes having caught a criminal a magistrate or judge then let's them off lightly. They are also constantly having their numbers cut.
I had my lead flashing pinched a few years ago and they came within 5 minutes at midnight on a Friday, never caught them unfortunately.

Is that targetted, as the ground is in Bentley or unlucky, that the ground is in Bentley?
