I wonder how many FL clubs would struggle with that request for their club.

It's beginning to sound a lot like what happened to Maidstone at the start of 92/93.

Their Watling Street ground had been sold to pay off creditors with no venue in place for staging their home matches so in that respect Bury are in a better place at the moment just.

I was really referring to the 'starting the season with no money and no likelihood of getting any' scenario. Maidstone had their first match postponed too until they collapsed after the season had actually started for everybody else.

Yes the similarities are clearly there and optimistically I’m hoping they survive for all the genuine Bury fans plus it’s lost revenue for all league one clubs if they don’t including Rovers who will have no home fixture over Easter.

At the time Maidstone United were thrown a lifeline which involved merging the club with Newcastle Blue Star and playing home games in the north east but this was rejected by the FL. With no money, players or ground the club were liquidated and 1992 saw it’s second football league club disappear following the collapse of Aldershot in March.

The demise of the Maidstone United in the August of 92 meant their last recorded football league fixture was a 3-0 defeat at Belle Vue on the last day of season 91/92.

Bury have been treading water for years (seem to recall them selling the actual seats when we were in the mire) I hope they can pull it round but I can see them just going to the next crisis

Just been having a look at clubs that have ended up defunct and a few from Doncaster in there.

Anyone know much on the others? Like Ford United or Doncaster St James? Seen before people have said Doncaster United played near Belle Vue.

They came back a few year ago, or have they gone again?

Lots of those clubs were linked to the mining industry and some to closed  businesses.
Some of them were clubs I had played for in years gone by.

Correct but they have reformed themselves and play on a new ground at New Rd just off the main A630 as you leave Conisborough towards Rotherscum. They're currently raising funds to build an enclosed fence for the ground. I went last season for a game.
