Mmmm … surprised he’s not given Clayton a start. He’s one element of play we are desperately needing.
-
maybe not yet ready for a full 90 minutes but probably give him a run later on or if we start looking defensively dodgy
-
they have X- loanees Grant Houghton & Ennis starting
Ennis was no "Dennis the Menace" when we had him
hopefully their defence is "SCARRED" after those two late soft goals
lets hope we all make some £-s-d Today :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
-
BBC and DROS have Barlow on the bench instead of Ravenhill? Was there a late injury?

I thought Ennis was quality

come on rovers, good early goal
-
Are they on top
-
Should be 2 up ,need to make the chances count
-
Blimey, Gills 0-3 down to Oxford after 19mins. Need to make this game count. COYR!!!
-
Are they on top
they have had some good play but rovers are pressing and attacking well
-
1-1
-
Poor defending to let him get that cross in
-
Rovers still have a good chance in this game, their pressure is being made to count.

I did wonder. Sending me to sleep.

Thank you

Ennis caused us alot of trouble.

How is the young lad up front playing?

How is the young lad up front playing?
Had three great chances. Blasted all three over the bar. A bit of rustinees but making good runs and getting in good positions.
-
That Lancashire accent is distinctive, not doing too bad. I am struggling to work out who "Smudge " is that he keeps referring to.

Did we play with or against the wind in the first half?
-
Entertaining half.
We've had about 10 chances we could have scored. No exageratinon.
Stop Ennis you stop Plymouth.
-
Wow what an end to that half :rtid:
-
Did we play with or against the wind in the first half?
Against, the ball nearly blew into our goal from two corners.
-
Yep really entertaining first half and rovers are actually managing to put together attacking runs that look threatening. Plymouth are there for the taking if we stay focused
-
How did that not go in , second half the corners need swinging in with that wind

Our shot count is so different to just a few weeks ago.
-
Really good half. Could be 6-3 to us. Was Rowe’s disallowed goal offside? Looked like the ball came off their lad. Houghton has one pass, diagonal to Grant. Agree: stop Ennis, you stop them.
Fantastic game to watch.
-
Competing well and creating real chances, which is what I want to see.. conversion needs to be better but the potential to win games is there to be seen..
This could be a game with one of our best performances of the season but where we could lose. Shame we had such a shite first half to the season as this is nowhere near bottom of the league fare.
-
This looks like a team that wants to play football together and where everyone knows what their job is. Lots of movement and pace. Other than a lull in the middle just after they scored it’s been terrific to watch.
-
Any changes at half time?

Danny Mayor on for them

Pontus on the receiving end of a hiding at Gills 0-4 now!!
-
Thanks Dutch!
-
Pontus on the receiving end of a hiding at Gills 0-4 now!!
Asking Pontus to catch a ball in windy conditions is like asking Johnson to refrain from a lockdown party.
-
Ha-ha! Nice one Copps.
-
Rotherham are not that impressive at Crewe -- defence vulnerable to breakaways--
Crewe have watered an already wet ground ( just like Brian Clough used to do only he got the fire brigade to do it at the Baseball Ground) .
Rotherham still haven't been behind all season in the first half - so looking forward to putting that right on Tuesday.

To be fair to him, 3 have been penalties

0-5 now
And Bolton are battering Sunderland 4-0
-
Must be time to put Agard on here.
-
1-2
-
Jones has to save that for me.
-
they seemed to put at least 30 passes together for that goal - is that true ?
-
Jones should have got that ,poor goal to give away
-
And just as the other results are starting to go our way
COYR :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
-
Two chances in this half now, come on Rovers!
-
:pinch:We are losing the midfield battle ,Clayton to come would be good
-
Jones has to save that for me.
Don’t you find that we’re conceding a high percentage of the actual shots on target, or is it just me.
-
Game over. Spirited performance. Alot to build on for next season .
-
We just cannot defend and really need to pop some of our many chances in.
-
End of game
-
sh1t .

End of game
no
-
Jones has to save that for me.

He doesnt have a long career ahead of him
-
That was coming the midfield has been over run in the second half
-
We’ve given them far too much room on the flanks. Need to get more tackles in around midfield to stop the ball getting out there. Cue Clayton?
-
Yes, lost midfield second half. I’m not discouraged though. Argyle are a good team, and our performance has again been much improved.
Jones really should have saved their second. Third was a good finish. Think GMC made the correct subs.
-
Ignore the score line.
This is miles apart from the Rovers at the beginning of the season. We literally couldn't even create a chance on goal then. We've had a dozen chances to score here. Its impossible to expect the 5/6 new signings have that clinicalness and organisation Plymouth have here.
But it will come through time.
-
Are we allowed to make 4 subs?

Spot on. Loving GMc’s approach and philosophy. Performances are light years from what they were earlier in the season.
-
Are we allowed to make 4 subs?
just thinking that myself ,only if one came off with concussion you can make another sub I believe
-
Poor finishing and poor goalkeeping cost us today. We did well otherwise.
-

Margins.
We've been beaten by a top 7 team on margins.
-
Disappointing result considering the effort and marked improvement. Just need to make sure we put those chances to bed.
-
Well, a lot to take positively from that. Plymouth were clinical when they needed to be. They play the channels really well and have quality all over.
Our entire ethos is evolving and I like what I’m seeing.
I’d love to hear from somebody at the game if Rowe’s goal should have been allowed. I thought the ref missed a lot of pushes and sneaky fouls.
It was a great game to watch, regardless of the result. Losing is less painful knowing we’ve put in a performance and the lads really tried.
-
time for some of you to get real "nobody relevant" won today
fact is we lost one point to all of them .
and allegedly you get 3 points for a win -- we are going to play better than today with a stronger side for the next 18 or so games
bring on rovrum please
-
A word for Odubeko. To say he only came in two days ago really, got into great positions. Chased and harried well too. Ran out of steam but he has goals in him once he regains that sharpness.
-
In summary, we are doing everything fine apart from the two hardest things. Scoring and not conceding.
We are more competitive for sure but that second half was sobering. We were comfortably outplayed. It shows how far we have slipped when a comfortable home defeat against a side who won't make the play-offs is seen as a flicker of hope.
-
We can't be giving teams chances like we did for the second and third goal. Jones should have done miles better with the first two.
-
Just didn’t take our chances and allowed them far too much time on the ball. They were decent, but that’s all. Rowe’s goal should have stood from where I was sat
-
Dahlberg conceded 7 today.
-
Billy
It’s a bit weird to suggest a side one place outside the playoffs won’t make it.
Second half we may have been outplayed but the first half we could’ve been 4 up.
Plenty to be encouraged about, let’s not shoe horn in a load of negativity.

They are over performing their xG by a fair bit, so they have a decent chance of dropping as the season goes on.

Last half hour we were outplayed. First half and first 20 of second half we were better side. They went 2-1 up and the wheels fell off. I am still encouraged by what I saw.
Rowe was offside. I was in line.

That was not a comfortable afternoon for the Plymouth defense. According to the BBC stats it was 17 shots for rovers. According to my recollection it was close to a dozen decent chances for rovers. How is that comfortable? How is that comparable to earlier in the season when we couldn't create a chance?
-
Another weekend where other results have gone in our favour.
Yet our own result hasn’t. Such a shame.
Get this group playing as a cohesive team and we won’t have any issues next season, irrespective of which league we end up in.
-
Same old story, strikers not taking their chances and the defenders not doing their job. But saying that it was a much better performance but sadly the same result.
Onwards and upwards on to Tuesday and Rotherscum

I know the figures. I've seen the game.
And at the end of all that, we've put one away and they've put three away.
Just like at Cambridge
Because our fundamental problems are that we have no clinical finishers and we cannot defend consistently.
That's why we are going down.
The improved competitiveness is cheering, but it's a sign of how big a hole Wellens left us in that even competing is seen as a new dawn.
-
Remember: GMc said fitness was a priority as the players weren’t fit enough under Wellens. That is another factor that will improve.
Thankfully results elsewhere were pretty good for us.
Billy, I’m not going to criticise after that effort. Remember how far we had fallen, where we just didn’t compete on any level at all and simply rolled over. You yourself compared it to 97/98.
The January additions have been good. I still think we can do this.

If Plymouth make the playoffs, I'll give 100 quid to the charity of your choice.

PDX.
I'm not criticising. I'm being brutally honest.
Yes we have improved in our competitiveness, but we are still miles off the standard required in either penalty area, and we still run out of energy after 60 mins.
-
What was the point of playing Clayton for about 5 minutes. Surely at 3-1 down he could have come on
-
We were good first 60 minutes. Frustrating really that we couldn't get some goals to back it up.
But, if we keep improving, keep performing and it will come. We aren't far away.
Martin and the striker up front impressed me, the left back as sub found it a bit tough but we were chasing the game by then and lost it.
The weak link for me was Galbraith. He has been poor for a while now and I'd say Rowe and Smith ahead of him at the moment.

Totally agree, on 70 minutes you would have thought it was us that had played midweek, they looked far fitter. There are green shoots & it's good to see us creating chances again, & I enjoyed watching us play with some impetus & purpose. But for now, as Billy says, we are miles off competing the standard required at this level. Hopefully it will come as the new lads bed in.

That’s not true (if we are talking about Odebeko).
He forced a fantastic tip over save by the keeper when he hit his shot after a great run and pull back by Dodoo.
