Understand he's been released by blades.  Listening to blades fans when he's played he's been ok.  Might be an option for rovers

I have always wanted someone to explain to me the difference between flammable and inflammable  :headbang:

Dutch,
As a retired petroleum inspector, who never carried out an inspection in anger, there is no difference.

And mine Filo.

Yes, I've never seen anyone deteriorate so quick, the frightning thing is I worked at the same place and it can manifest itself many years later

you would probably want to see a doctor just incase you have contracted cancer.

I suppose it is one of those things. After all "fat chance" and  "slim chance" appear to mean the same. Although there's no chance at all of anyone calling me "slim."

We used to regularly lag boilers and remove lagging from boilers to re-use later. We also used a hacksaw to cut asbestos flues, fall pipes and guttering.
In later years regularly drilled asbestos roof tiles to drop conduits through.
At 69 I'm maybe lucky or the time bomb hasn't started ticking yet.
I've told the wife that if that's how I go to contact my old firm.

Too right mate, it can take 40 years or more to manifest itself, my dads was from working in the shipyards alongside laggers in the engine room

A lot of mates from Bentley were lagging in the power stations in the 60s.
Not seen them since I left Donny but hope they are ok.

Asbestosis, I too, over my working life have been exposed to it many time, in fact the last fire I attended was an "asbestosis reported incident" which management denied was the case. I took photos of it the incident the next day when a specialist firm was removing the asbestos and passed it over to the Union. As it happens I had a chest xray for an unrelated reason last week and I am hoping for a negative result.

Best of luck Idler.

Cheers Alick. No use worrying about what might happen.
I remember when we all used to change our own brake pads. Take the old ones off and blow the dust out. Asbestos had a smell and you think that if you were smelling it you were breathing it in.
The annoying part is one company that I worked for was bought out by T&N in the 80s. They were later sued for millions in the US over asbestos claims. The annoying thing is that like tobacco the dangers were known long before they were released for public consumption.

In my limited experience, while there are no good kinds of asbestos, some types carry more risk than others. It also depends where the asbestos fibres end up in your body - sometimes the particles get caught in your throat or in your nose hairs/mucus etc, it's only if they end up in your lungs that the risk is most severe. Breathing in asbestos isn't a cast-iron guarantee of cancer luckily. Do make sure to get checked out regularly though gents. I've seen it in my family and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Unfortunately, as already mentioned it can take years to manifest itself, my dad passed away in 1973 with asbestosis, having worked at the British Rail wagon shops. He told me they used to roll the asbestos up & throw them around like snowballs,  I have photos of me sat on his knee in his work overalls, it does make you think.

My mum received compensation from a very reluctant British Rail, which she invested in a bungalow, which we are now having to sell to pay for her upkeep in a residential home, the irony here is, if my dad had not contacted asbestosis, mum would still be living in a council house & the goverment would be paying for her upkeep.

Good luck & accept my best wishes for anybody who has come in to contact with this terrible disease.

What about those that were at school in the 50’s and 60’s all the heating pipes lagged with asbestos which everyone tried to remove by booting it. Just hope that it was the “safe” sort
