8% increase from last year is very disappointing

The trend outside the PL is of declining attendances, very sharply with the away fan. So, to see an increase of 8% is encouraging.

But after a promotion surely the club would have expected it to be more?

Of course, but the extent of the decline has to be factored in too.

It's an improvement but we can keep it improving. Be interesting to see the decline if this week doesn't go our way.

8% is at least average for home attendances for a promotion from League 1 to the Championship, our overall attendances have gone up way above average - and in a struggling season.

I'm not sure what people (dare to dream??) expect and what those expectations are based on. It's certainly not based on what happens for other clubs.

You include the board when you say the statement.

Compare home attendances to other clubs who have been promoted and I bet the majority experience a higher increase than 8%.

You didn't expect a higher increase in home attendances more than 8%?

I'd hoped for a little more than that, and the board always have higher than realistic expectations.

I haven't got the stats for the home crowd only figures. Taking the home and away fans in the figures does bias things towards smaller clubs getting higher increases as the away following that comes from the bigger clubs in the Championship will be greater in proportion to the home following, if you get me.

With us finishing near the bottom, that will bias the stats against us.

Out of the 42 promotions since 2000:

I think that covers most perspectives. Overall I'd say that demonstrates we have done better than average, certainly a long way from bad.

I remember in our first season in the Conference it was regular to only get over a thousand fans at BV, people who have only been to the  KM don't know how uncomfortable and being exposed to the elements fans were at BV. But at the same time it had a great atmosphere on a weekday and in a cup game against a higher division side.  I wouldn't want to go back to those days but they have a special place in my heart and in Rovers folklore.
