:):):)

But there's a difference between 'better' and 'favourite' surely? I have 4 Rovers who I prefer to Copps - though only one of them was anywhere near as skillful as he and one of them was a plain donkey tbh. A fab donkey mind :)

Cheers

In my top 4:

McIndoe
Kitchen
Snodin I
Copps

I think folks can only really judge on players they have seen.  Some will of course remember the players of 50/60 years ago but that was before my time.  I will have seen Kitch and big Bren a couple of times but not enough nor was I old enough to really understand nor appreciate how good they were.

I saw much of our successes in the early 80s and of course in the last 10-12 years or so, so my top 5 would mostly be relatively modern.

Also would we be selecting players based purely on their abilities or for other reasons such as an important goal etc?

Putting all that together it would be very difficult NOT to select Copps in a top 5.  He is certainly in mine.

I have been watching Rovers since Oct 1975 so here are my top 10 in order 1-10

1  Ian Snodin
2  Richie Wellens ( first spell only )
3  Peter Kitchen
4  Brian Stock
5  Glynn Snodin
6  James Coppinger
7  Ian Miller
8  John Buckley
9  Alan Warboys
10 Corporal Jones

I would be surprise if most of us don't have at least 3/4 of those in our top 10 in that era.

Surprised no one has given Steve Nichol a mention, despite his age he was by far the best defender we have had

There was a forward who had a short spell at Doncaster and for life of
me I can't recall his name .

I could well be wrong here but I think he was signed from Bolton,it was in the late 1980s I think but said player was shit hot and was hitting the back of net week in week out.

can't quite recall what happened to him as he had fell off my memory/radar.

Could have got a serious injury which ended his playing days  but
he was a class or two above the rovers standard back then.

Copps apparently has a lump on his heel and it is an injury concern, could be that is the reason he back heeled the ball so well he was trying to burst the lump or flatten it out  :woohoo: :woohoo:

I would leave Copps out at Newport as not much cultured football is likely on that surface.
I have heard there may be a few changes for Fri
My Stepson coaches in the academy so has his ears to the ground.
