Sky Sports HQ
« on February 06, 2017, 09:25:53 am by donnygeoff »
It is just me or does anyone else think Sky Sports have their priorities wrong.  For the first 15 minutes of this mornings 9am show has been totally Super Bowl. Are we so interested in this game in this country or are we pleasing the Americans!!!

I would also bet this will be repeated on the hour this morning.  Surely more important national sport to concentrate on.

Not interested at all.
Not bothered about the Premier league either.

The SB is a massive event and there is a big fan base over here.

Sky also pay a lot of money to broadcast NFL so they are going to give it as much coverage as possible to promote it. Especially with the competition from BT, their viewing figures are dropping. BT have taken the Champs League and now rivalling them with the Boxing. They Need the NFL to be a success. I've said for a while it will be the next thing BT try and nick from them.

Watched Super Bowl live on BBC. No adverts. Good game.

American football has a big following over here, they even bring NFL teams over here to play a regular season game at Wembley.

Oh, and our football could learn a thing or two from their game.

For the historians.. During the Second World War they had a saying about Americans.. Too Many Yanks, Over Paid and Over Here. incidentally my dear dad whilst fighting the Germans only received one injury (Yes he was very lucky I know) But whilst in the Marshalling Yards in Marseille which was then held by the British, he was bombed and received a broken rib BY THE AMERICANS

That's like saying they can't show highlights of an Australia vs New Zealand cricket test because that would be pleasing the Aussies and Kiwis!

I'm a big NFL fan and obviously love football too but even if I wasn't that much of an NFL fan I'd still rather hear about the Super Bowl and that comeback last night (sport) as opposed to Sky Sport's tedious usual 24 hours of absolute drivel about Paul Pogba's hair or what Klopp said to a fourth official for 10 minutes every hour.

I'd say judging by the viewing figures and the attendances at the Wembley/Twickenham games, American Football is arguably one of the biggest followed/watched sports in the UK.

They used to say "when the British shoot, the Germans duck. When the Yanks shoot, everyone ducks."

1st time I have ever watched it and as ' tony tiger ' used to say
 I thought it was "G R E A T"

tony tiger > > > Kellogg's frosties for you that have not had the pleasure.

Got me thinking about nipping across to Uncle Sam for next years
super bowl to watch it .

I don't me shelling out shit loads of $ $ $ via the black market for
a brief to get inside the stadium ,as jibbing in would be impossible I guess.

But the idea of sitting in a bar  somewhere across the big pond for what seems a life time on the lash
watching the game play out on FHD screens with a pub full yank football nut jobs ticks my bucket list for some reason.

" it's been one god dam hell of a weekend BOY "

A totally over-rated sport.  The Yanks are desperate to widen its appeal overseas in order to make more money and Murdoch's Sky have paid into it.  I don't know another sport where more time is spent waiting for something to happen than there is action to watch.  Lots of time between "plays" for TV companies to screen adverts. That's why Sky loves it. Rugby is far more fluid, and far more exciting..

American Football is the dullest sport going. A few years back I went to the Britbowl at the Keepmoat out of curiosity. Biggest waste of time ever. It took 3 hours to have 15 minutes of play, stupid.
Football and Rugby are constant action, that's why they are better sports.

the yanks have come up with bas**rdized versions of rugby , rounders and netball
and called them american sports. They then hold a ' world series ' of american teams
at the end of which an american team is annointed ' world champions'.
Sounds like some sort of trump scam.

I gave it go when channel 4 tried to build it up here , but soon gave up as it
was just so boring. The only interest is a quaterback pass now
 and again.

Excellent presentation but as a sport  crown green bowls is more exciting.
also you need to be a bit of a physical freak to play it , so can't relate to it either.
Robot wars is more natural and has a lot more action.

American football isn't for everyone, neither is rugby or cricket for that matter.

I am a big NFL fan and go to the London games every year. To be honest I would rather watch the NFL to premier league football.

Big people who don't understand tend to dismiss it, but each to there own. Over hyped, yes of course but a terrific sport if you get into it. The NFL network station is huge, similar to sky sports news...but just NFL.

Never been the slightly bit interested in it, but was in vegas for last years superbowl and watching it a casino was a genuinly fantastic experience. The atmosphere was amazing and the place goes daft

Yuk! Typical American crap being bigged up by our very own media. Over hyped. Over rated. And wish it wasn't over here. Keep it where it belongs - in Trumpland.

Our football teams could learn a lot from NFL in terms of preparation etc. It's the most professional sport in the world.

Our footballers would certainly get fewer injuries if they were wrapped in bubble wrap and then had a mattress strapped round them like their American football counterparts.

You have hit the nail on the head with that post foxbat fella.

As when I think about it I only watched the game last nite because it was the Super Bowl final ,if
it had been a normall game I would have stuck to watching some porn channel.

But saying the above the last 15 mins of that game had me on the edge of my seat running around
the front room giving myself high fives ,but the 3 hours before had me tut tut tutting to myself.

I don't get the attitude of derision from people who aren't fans. It's a great sport to me, and I don't carry this attitude towards sports I'm not particularly interested in, like say cricket or rugby.

Is that why they have strikes/lockouts by the players, imagine what would happen here if players tried to strike?Imagine what NFL players would do if they did'nt get paid like Morecombe on Sat,I know which are more professional in my eyes.

I occasionally watch American Football highlights, or used to when it was on free-to-air which wasn't bad as it was an hour of football, you'd have to be a big fan to watch the whole thing including the stoppages.
By the way we find the mute button more useful than the on-off button especially for the adds.
