This will be a interesting watch should rovers get the wrong result as it seems that Newport fc will more than push the boat out to make any visiting teams trip to their ground as most uncomfortable as possible .

The recent Newport v Portsmouth game ( think the home side won)
but said result had the Pompey manager slagging off the state of newports pitch ,but the darker side kicks in when also turns out that
the away dressing room conditions was just not ' cricket ' as the saying goes.

Lack of bath/ shower water and what water was on offer was via a drip feed and freezing cold etc etc.

All tricks in the book were used to make portsmouths stay as hard as possible ,and they are not the only team that have made same type of
remarks.

Which gets me thinking ,apart from the obvious tricks what other tricks will clubs like Newport do to help gain a advantage ? Would
I be correct in saying the Newport manager is a 'kitson' type character
as you lot use the term?

Would tricks like above come from the managers say so ?

What other tricks do you think could be used

Pube or teeth marks in the bars of soap

In flushed bogs or so called broken bog flushing system

Lack of lights

Bad smells

shitty brews

I've heard people say in the past that Wales is a poverty stricken 3rd world country, maybe they're right

Iam told that  all the shops still close after half day one day a week.

Seem to recall that going on down at bottom shops in cantley at some
shops in the 1970s .think half day closing as called back then was every Monday.

Seem to recall west ham united doing that at millmoor not too long back ,and they got slaughtered
for it both on/off the pitch

We are top of the league and unbeaten in what, 8 or 9 league games?  I can't see such gamesmanship affecting the players, Fergie won't allow it.

But the pitch, that is a different matter!

With strong characters throughout our team any attempt of gamesmanship would have the affect of firing up the lads, imo. Stand well back and watch JM go. COYR

It  seemed to have an effect on Portsmouth fc as they got beat there and were not happy bunnys
afterwards .

So did Barnsley at Belle Vue!
We beat them 4-0 if my memory serves me correctly.
Just deserts. What was wrong with the Belle Vue changing rooms ???

That was a facup game fella, and they got beat there in the league game couple of weeks back

Well I think that's the case

I seem to recall an away game at Newport back in the 80's when Mickey Nesbitt scored on his debut? Think we won 1-0 too. Probably around 86/87 I'd guess?

One of a handful of grounds that I never had the pleasure of going too.

Opening day of the 85-86 season. We drew 2-2. Mickey Nesbitt did score on debut and everyone thought we had a star in the making.

I went to Somerton Park for the only time the following season (86-87). They beat us 3-2. They also beat us at Belle Vue but they finished bottom of Division 3 and a year later they dropped out of the Football League.

I remember going there and winning 2-1 ,I seem to think Gordon Owen and Terry ( Tracey ) Austin either scoring or playing well . Tommy Tynan and John Aldridge might have been up front for them

nice one rovers

How does a cold shower affect the game? Surely the shower is AFTER the game?

I don't think it matters a jot what the changing rooms are like...These days all teams take there own refreshments/energy drinks and like what has been said..A cold shower after the match wont have any bearing on much during it..Are we travelling down on the day of the match or have we booked a hotel???
What will have a bearing though is that pitch...I suspect we will have been working on a more direct plan this week,Which wont suit us so well, but looking at it there wont be much point trying to pass through them....I suspect Marquis is going to have a busy night playing the hold up man...

Get the cold water shower points but there must be numerous things
that can be done and are done to make the away teams conditions
as uncomfortable as possible

Like non flushing bogs > n'owt more off putting than a bog full of logs.

Centre plate under the stands food kiosk catering

Stink bombs

Terry/Tracey playing well??

I don't recall that happening often!  Didn't he join us from Huddersfield, and was there one of ours went the other way?  I can't remember.

Just remember where they all started...On Council pitches !!!!!!!!!!!!! Donny are not super rich superstars, they ar L2 footballers, I do believe that Newport Gwent Dragons also play there. NOW I can see it intimidating certain rugby players that think they are it.......Leicester Tigers. Harlequins. Gloucester etc.. I have been changing at a ground where there is a coffin stood in the corner.....Hessle RUFC it was

I played at a couple of grounds where the bogs didn't flush.
You just need a spade to pat it down a bit.
It didn't affect us, we won both times.
Really, none of the stuff you have indicated will have a bearing on how the team will play.
