Think it'll be Redfearn, quick easy swap from the Belles to us..

I’d be happy for Saunders to return.  Knowing the club they won’t want to spend a lot.  I could see Neil redfearn moving from Belles.  He’s managed in the league before.  Seems to have done an ok job with belles
A lot of the others mentioned above are serial failures or non achievers
Definitely don’t want heckingbottom he failed at barnsley and was shit at Leeds

Had Nigel Adkins not taken the Hull job he would have been my absolute favourite, we never seem to get the timing right for him to be a serious consideration.

Just from assessing that list...

Simon Grayson feels a realistic option. He clearly likes the area, he has Glyn Snodin with him, a bonafide Rovers legend. His speciality is getting clubs promoted from this league. Whether he would come here I don't know but he's the most appropriate choice I can find.

Warburton is a good manager and knows how to grasp a whole club and move it forward, he did a great job at Brentford. Mick McCarthy is a good manager too but are either of those realistic options for us? Probably not.

I can't see Tisdale moving up north. David Hopkin is a total unknown as far as his ability in England goes but might be worth a go, and Michael Appleton certainly has something about him although he's another thorny character like Ferguson was.

Can't see Redfearn or Wilcox moving from their current roles nor would I really want them to. Clark is diabolical, Sheridan no better. Heckingbottom isn't good enough, nor is Megson. I'm not stuck on the Cowleys either.

Uwe Rosler isn't on that list but I bet he applies for it. And what about Coppinger?

Out of the names listed ( and some not ) how many fulfil criteria of "being able to demonstrate ability to manage in championship"
looks like (I may be wrong of course).
Neil Redfearn
Paul Heckingbottom (not very well)
Simon Grayson
Mick McCarthy
Mark Warburton (again not very well)
Gary Megson (not very well)
other - Please state ( not sure if any have, unless Rangers can be counted for McCall).

That cuts field down considerably.

Warburton did an excellent job in the Championship with Brentford so he's certainly proved he can do it. Forest is an eternal mess, no one has done well there in several years.

I'd like to see McCall given a go. Redfearn would be a decent appointment too IMO. No thank you to all the others. Honestly, Lee f**king Clark.

I was a fan of DF's quiet way of doing business and my hopes of staying up were fulfilled but I didn't see enough games so I won't comment on the playing style and leave that for others.
He appears to have done a lot of work and improved the back of house along with the youngsters.
It's a funny game and confidence between the board and the manager appears to determine how much money gets spent if money is available that is and who knows an incoming manager may demand and get more than what was on offer to DF, or not.

Here's a few managers looking for a spot.

McCall, Grayson, or Tisdale look like the best three names being bandied about to me.

Obviously Warburton or McCarthy would be good but I don't think we'd be able to attract them.

Would be less excited about Heckingbottom, Wellens, Redfern or Hopkin, but they would all be appointments that could go either way.

Lee Clark is an absolute no-go.

This, although Hopkin has a decent record.

He hasn’t yet, and it’s possible that Ferguson’s availability could change things for them.

Surprised Coppinger is not on the list. I think if he put in an application it would be considered. The same way Jones was given a go. I'm not saying he'd make a good manager. Who knows that? But I certainly think its more likely than some of the names on the list.

Hopefully they don't go for one just because he has the best win percentage. I'd rather the guy with the lowest budget that finishes 10th then the guy with the highest budget that finishes 7th.

Maybe he will make a good manager. But I'd rather he didn't do it here. It would be so disappointing for the fans to turn on a club legend when it inevitably went wrong at some point.

Stuart McCall please. Tisdale, Grayson, Redfearn would also be fine.

Some names on the list are not serious options, others are a joke surely (yes, Lee Clark I mean you).

Copps has got one more season as a player, let's not mess that up with coaching and management. He's always saying he's had enough of travelling down to Donny so if he ever does that it'll be in the North East/N Yorks.

Two not mentioned who have done well with very little to play with,
John Coleman at Accrington, Keith Curle who did well at Carlisle while players were sold from under him.
Strachan could be a good shout, if he himself see's his future in management.
Watching his coaching and  input with the players at Cantley, it is obvious he is well respected and liked, but would he want it?
