Let's talk about the M.K.Dons game
« on March 01, 2020, 08:17:40 pm by selby »
As  we now are starting to get to the part of the season when fixtures are starting to run out, the games are starting to look even more important for us to get a win in, to keep some semblance of a chance to get into the playoffs. So all to play for and cup finals to the end of the season.
M.K.Dons strengthened well in January with a couple of players from Norwich and Blackburn and although drawing three of their last six fixtures have only lost one, so a hard game against a decent team lies ahead.
Jordan Houghton an old favourite here plays in the defensive midfield position, and we know he can be a good player who is difficult to play against although they have let twenty goals in at home and scored exactly the same number but drawn only one game winning 9 and losing 7 mostly in the early part of the season.
What team we will put out other more knowing supporters than me will have more idea, as I would be reduced to guessing, and will not try until the team is announced.  What team do you expect to take the field?
The bottom line is we need to have a good go at winning and follow up the good result yesterday, it will not be easy but we have the ability to do so, and even though having a couple of poor results before yesterday, the effort of the players cannot be criticised.
A bit of luck would not be out of place to the end of the season as we have not used a lot up this season up to press.
Lots to discuss about this game, an important game by any standards in a great stadium that is far too big for the crowd this game will attract, but the best seats in the league to watch a game on what always looks a big playing surface made for good attacking football, let's hope we don't disappoint.

When we lost the Gillingham and Shrewsbury games most of the teams above us won and so stretched their lead against us.
Last Saturday we won and only Oxford, Portsmouth and Coventry won.
We won’t be catching Portsmouth or Coventry so in reality it was a good weekend for us.
A repeat of sorts would be good and once again we could have hopes of catching the fifth and sixth placed teams.
As has often been said on here, it is the hope that kills you.

I have got used to hoping Hound, it is mostly what I have done since my first game in 1951, I have difficulty with the disappointment.

I hope we learn from the mistakes of the reverse fixture, as we simply were not at the races that day in a game we should have been imposing ourselves on. Granted, three of our starting line-up that day are no longer at the club (in fact only four of that side started yesterday) but still, there are lessons to be learned. MK play a style of football that most struggling sides tend not to and they have had a couple more months to grow under Russell Martin, plus the likes of Rhys Healey are back fit.

I think this is going to be another tough game and one we certainly shouldn't be underestimating the opponents for.

They have won 6 of their last 7 home games in League One, conceding only 3 goals. They have won their last 3 home games in a row, conceding just a single goal.

They are a very good team. We are definitely second favourites going there.

Why are they favourites?
Yes their recent form is quite good but they are not 100% safe from relegation yet so they aren’t that good.

We should go there with a very positive attitude and impose our game on them.
We can win and we need to win.

Typically Rovers, if we're expected to win, we won't. We're not expected to win at MK Dons, so we might.

They are 16th and three places from relegation for a reason. Their home form is good but their away form is absolutely risible. They last won away in mid September.

The games is away at their ground and as you say their home form is good, so what's your point, you think we are up against it, shame we are not playing them at our place, what?

We need to be beating teams at the bottom if we have any hope at all of reaching play-off standard. Gillingham and Shrewsbury need to be looked back on as a collective nightmare. Rovers to win 0-3!

Mate of mine will be in the posh seats on Saturday. As she has a seat for me and I can't be there, I agree Barmby. Usually I wouldn't. We are too inconsistent and they are a much better side this last few months. But this is in the stars.

Do you mean they have been a better side than us or a better side than they were?

Just wondering Bob, would you have agreed with Barmby if your friend hadn’t had a seat for you.

Prediction.
Cole to get his first goal tomorrow.

Not making any score prediction but it won’t be 0-0

That’s a 0-0 then flipping certainty now.   ;)

Deffo a good call

I couldnt understand btts (but now I do) - so I looked at Rovers to win 1-5 and it was 200/1

How about a 50p double  :woohoo: 500 quid plus

... and I will have my fav bet as well

rovers to be leading at ht and losing at ft - and vice versa

Both 33 to 1 at a quid a pop

So now I want MKD to be leading at HT and Rovers to win at FT for 33 quid and 25 for the other part

Put my money on a 1-3 win, that's finished our chances off then.
