Let's talk about our great club Doncaster Rovers
« on March 22, 2020, 10:28:51 am by selby »
The whole way we live our lives is now under threat of being changed, the well being of our families and friends are the most important things in life, and for lots of people things are going to be life changing for the foreseeable future, and more than likely not particularly for the better.
Just getting about, meeting friends and socialising becoming harder, as is earning a living as they usually do for many people.
The posters on here do so for their love of a football club which we are attached to, that we follow avidly, and has become an important  part of our lives.
The thing I am going to ask about will be difficult in the extreme would need thinking about ( but that is what people on here are good at) there are some brilliant posters and well educated and experienced people.
How can we Help? well lot's of us go to the games with friends, lots of us are in the older age bracket but far from finished. Just the odd phone call asking and checking mates are OK, could stop loneliness.
Can the club become a focal point? it starts off with a known membership, that can be contacted and asked to help.
Can any of the facilities at the ground be offered to the council or health service? having parking facilities and a wide concourse from the adjacent roads that can be isolated and having media connections and office space.
Just how can the club put itself to the forefront in the local community to help?
Would people be willing to Help?
Lot's to discuss about our club in the community, please have your say.

Well, I thought the best thing I could do was renew two season tickets and car park places for next season.
That's it done and dusted, now all we need is a bit of footy to go and watch.

I think what the club are doing thus far in assisting charities with calls to those who live alone etc is great. I guess there's a limit to what the payers can do due to the distancing. I'm sure the club will help if they can proving a resource and/or logistics.

I also think community football clubs will have a big part to play in the recovery whenever that comes. It will be significant when we are able to resume social gethering once again. It will be something to celebrate but also pay tribute to all those who have made sacrifices, including the ultimate during this period.

Things can't be the same again and hopefully as a community, we will not take our simple pleasures for granted any longer.

I also think it will be a turning point for football in general in terms of the financial health of the game and individual clubs. This should tell us, without fans the game is nothing.
