4-1 in the shoot out.. Rovers went first, scoring all 4 - Bradford scored their first, then Jones saved one, then they hit the crossbar.

Looks like we’re not going to be short of decent penalty takers this season. Always a bonus.

Pretty mediocre performance really Taylor is having a good game and they can’t handle him

Not quite in top gear yet but don’t forget this is the second competitive game in 6 months..

Mediocre is a bit unfair.

Mediocre sounds about right from what I’ve read - that’s not necessarily criticism, just acknowledgement that we never really hit our stride.

The fact it’s so early in the season means we’re likely to be rusty but it was the same for our opponents.

We were dominant in the second half, and created a few good chances, but it just wouldn't drop for us. I'm not saying we were good, because it was a laboured performance against a stubborn defence. Gomes was my man of the match,( I think Taylor would have pipped him, if he stayed on) he could play a big part this year. His eye for a pass, and sometimes a pass you would never think is on excites me. He has come along way from the rabbit in the headlights performance at Rochdale.

We were dominant, Fej looks every inch a Centre Forward, Taylor looks on fire, Taylor Richards looked a little lost First half but looked better second half, Lokilo and Williams never really got into the game when they came on, and Gomes looks to be gaining confidence the more he plays

If this was a game in November when we should be fully in our stride and hopefully in good form, or in late March when competing for a promotion or a play off spot, then maybe mediocre might be applicable there.

There was a lot of positivity tonight, yes we can do with more of a cutting edge but we have exciting players coming in, and our defence looks as solid as ever.

They all put a shift in tonight - I know it wasn’t your choice of word but mediocre is a bit of an insult in the context of this game.

Another good work out tonight. Lacking the final finish but plenty of positives to take from the game.
Taylor was excellent and looks full of confidence. Just need a better end product from him at times.
Richards looks a prospect, Okinenbehrie holds the ball up well and looks as though he will do the Marquis job for us this season. Whether he will get as many goals, well we will have to wait and see. Gomes is definitely better going forward than defending. Louis Jones looked sound, very confident in all he did.
Excellent penalties taken, which is good to see.

Bring on Saturday. Here we go. Let’s get off to a winning start. We always seem to draw our first league game of the season when we are at home. Not this year, we will win.

Jones showed his pedigree facing a pen shoot out. Brilliant.

I know it wasn’t a league game, but we just drew our first home fixture.  Looking for a win next.!

That concludes a decent pre season for me, now it is down to the important stuff, and hopefully a good start to the season.
Overall I thought that after tonight's game we need to sharpen up in the box and be more clinical but the signs are that we are working towards a useful team, although another striker and defensive  central midfielder would let the more expansive players off the leash and will give us strength in depth.
Jones looks a keeper with a good future ahead of him, and with youth throughout the squad things should get better as the season progresses and we gain experience, and the news about the loanees coming adds to the excitement.
So on to the game on Saturday and another write up in the morning.

A great result for us and particularly for Jones. Very pleased for the lad.

Cherry on cake was total humiliation for Leeds, crushed 7-0 by Accrington. Kids or not, that is going to really hurt them.

I think we are on the right track definitely.
One worry for me is the amount of free kicks we have conceded just outside the 18 yard box, not just tonight but the Blackburn game too. Hopefully it’s just a timing issue due to lack of game time

It didn’t mate, I still had the vsc to post on plus other sites I was using.
If you look, there are other posters who lost the iFollow coverage at the same time.
When I spoke to the bro in law this morning, he had also lost iFollow at the same time.
