Well done the u18s in the youth cup
« on November 18, 2020, 03:05:45 pm by selby »
They have done us proud and won 3-2 at Hull City an academy 2 side a brilliant save from the penalty spot by Ben Bottomley got us through but the whole team have done brilliantly and deserved the win. On to the winners of Peterborogh v Altringham away again in the next round I think.

I was following it Brian and it seemed very open. Great save by Ben.

It is frustrating lots of non league sides in the first couple of rounds have had the games on a  live thread for their supporters and Hull City don't. it is pathetic.

Is Altringham anywhere near Altrincham? (Same mistake on DROS)

A fantastic win of character and filled with good attacking football. The squad is not the biggest and some important players were missing through injury today, they also have had the Covid pandemic to deal with which has effected their coaching with coaches furloughed, parents unable to attend games, cancelled games, unable to bring players into the bubble to cover for injuries, even being unable to lodge in the town and travelling quite long distances on public transport to training at the Keepmoat every day and attend college as well.
Not the norm by any means and all the time while under scrutiny to see if they can progress to become professional footballers with all the pressure that brings, and just left school.
So credit to Stan and the coaches, to all the players and anyone involved in their progress, they have already achieved in life what most of us would give our right arm to do, which is represent this great club on the playing field, and have worked hard and overcome so many obstacles to do so.

I must say Selby that your post is a credit to you.
It brings home just how hard they have worked to win these matches. I don't think that the junior sides don't always get the credit they deserve. They must be walking ten feet tall today, a credit to themselves, their coaches and the club.
Well done lads.

I saw the tweets about it, looked like a close game.

It does look as though we are finally developing a system to actually develop talent for the future through all age ranges, which is a great credit to all involved.
