Bradford Park Avenue

Interesting article on BPA and the archeaology of the old stadium;
Archaeologist uncovers rich history at Bradford's lost football ground | UK news | The Guardian

I remember Rovers losing there in a game that was on Yorkshire TV.

Great photo of the ground with cricket and football on at the same time...make it big to get the best view.

I wonder if other old grounds have had the historians and archeaologists all over them?
OBV one day!

Great video, BB.

Took me back to the days of my youth.
I had not seen the BPA v Rovers since the original broadcast....Danny "Chance" Blanchflower on the mike.

New Years Honours list coming up...I'll put in a word...services to nostalgia...Arise, Sir BB!

We need Dutch or one of the statto's to come up with teams.

I was not sure who is in goal for Rovers....is it the late John Ogston?

Another aspect is King Alick on film.
I don't know if there is any other video of the great man in action.

Anyone know?

I can't help with the BPA team but Rovers was:

John Gavan, Harold Wilcockson, Colin Clish, John Flowers, Stuart Robertson, John Haselden, Chris Rabjohn, Alick Jeffrey, John Regan, Rod Johnson, Keith Webber.

Keith Webber scored the goal. It was John Gavan's final game for Rovers. Ogston came in for the next game at Darlington on Boxing Day and kept his place for the rest of the season.

If it is the game I am remembering we won 6-2 and Hector scored the two for BPA.

I think little Phil Robinson played for BPA that day.

I was at that game. Bradford PA in their customary rock bottom position, Rovers challenging near the top, local derby, TV cameras, a nailed on victory surely?  Surprise, surprise - Rovers lose out to late goal. Still, at least it gave them the necessary kick up the a**e and we went on to win the title. Not so sure there will be a repeat this season though.
