The one constant in teams picked by supporters on these threads and by the management for games is a line up of midfielders that get buried in most games.
I would have Faulkner right central defender drop Broadbent and Close and bring in Bailey and Flint to midfield and give it a bit of umph.  Bailey central and Flint on the right.

I really think we missed a trick not bringing in a player similar to Westbrook who was so important to our midfield, someone who could get about the pitch & has experience. Lakin would have done that role I think.

that’s way too defensive and zero creativity in that. Might be able to put a tackle in but on the ball they would struggle big time. Need Close in our midfield.

Any updates on injuries? I’d love to see Maxwell available for example, but I’ve lost track of who’s gone for the season, who’s loaned out etc. Taylor ran about for 5 minutes last Saturday so is he back now? Etc.

If either Sterry or Senior are fit then we can the move Rowe  back to midfield
Team                Jones

Sterry.       Faulkner.       McGrath.   Nixon

                                 Bailey

      Carty.        Close.     Rowe.      Hurst

                                  Ironside
If Sterry is not fit but Senior is then Nixon can play right. If neither fit then Flint right and Nixon left

Think Wood, Anderson and Maxwell are back in training now. Expect Taylor to be on the bench again.

Long is also back in training but heard he’s going out on loan this week.

Other injuries:

Miller (out for season)
Westbrooke (out for season)
Ravenhill (out for season)
Lavery (out of season)
Senior (knock)
Sterry (knock)
Lawlor (unknown)

Bailey, Close has had to play for the last two and a half seasons, the problem is he hasn't very often.

he was unlucky with injuries at the start but came back for the second half of last season and won one of the POTY awards.

Then when he came back in this season we had an upturn in form and he was a massive part of that and has managed to stay injury free apart from the one game against Morecambe which we missed him massively.

So team chosen tonight appears to be this

                    Jones

Bailey      Olowu     McGrath.   Nixon

     Broadbent   Close    Rowe

Molyneux.         Carty.          Hurst

Or Bailey could be in midfield and Rowe LB

Where's that come from, Steve? I can't find a team line-up anywhere. It's almost as though there isn't a game on tonight.

Charlie Wyke starting for them. Could we just once, just once, defend against a big lump and not get bullied to shit?

If Rowe is at left back he’ll have his work cut out, Jonny Smith is lively would prefer Nixon there.

I’ve seen that team on the Rovers Twitter feed and the Live Score app.

Really weird that Olowu is back and still no game time for Faulkner.

Every. Single. Time.

Without fail. Always happens, without fail.

Absolutely f**king useless.

Fully deserved. Much much better Rovers. Far more energy and movement today, than recent weeks.
