I’m hoping his standards are as high as his penalties

“Martin will work across areas of the Academy and development, as well as continuing his playing career."

For Halifax presumably rather than us?

Hopefully we get someone else in to teach the kids penalty techniques, though.

Took the worst penalty I have ever seen at Newcastle, ball is probably still orbiting the earth, hope someone else is doing penalty coaching.

Martin Woods was in the crowd in the home end when we played away at Crewe in the league. I only know this because I was with friends who support Crewe watching from their main stand. Had a good chat with after the game, didn’t mention the Newcastle penalty though

Every time I look up into the sky here in Newcastle I scan to see if Woods' penalty is coming back down from the atmosphere yet.

Turning into ‘The Ajax of Yorkshire !, Must be a few more old players we can fit in. What about Brian Stock as nutrition manager?.

It’s a shame he was mainly remembered for that penalty because he was a very decent player for us in the Championship when fit.

Yep, scorer of one of THE best goals I've ever seen in the flesh at Forest!

I was shocked to read Woods has only just turned 36 and was playing for Halifax last season. I thought he was much older and long retired.

Really nice chap Martin. Had a chat with him once at Donny station after a game. Think he went to the same place as Jurgen Klopp for his teeth. Couldn't see properly for a couple of hours after from the snow dazzle.

The interplay leading up to goals 2 and 4 was superb. That was quite a game.
They should show this clip to the current squad.
THIS is all we ask for. Good confident passing football with a goal or two to show for it.
It’s not too much to ask is it ?

Totally agree. It's the movement off the ball. As soon as pass is made, they're on the move into space ready to receive the next pass. Sod always said the ball carrier should always have two options.

Let's not forget though, it took hours and hours of practice to get there. Many times out playing teams but getting beat.

Suuuurely somewhere someone has a better quality clip of that goal. Absolute peach and it's been filmed on a calculator by looks of it. Gotta be on par with the likes of Christ the Redeemer Machu Picchu and the Northern Lights in the category of truly exquisite things to witness. Pure beauty.

That footage was provided to the uploader by an official club source, mad how poor quality the footage is from more than 10 years ago, before HD football footage was super common.

I went in the prawn sarnie area for the Oxford game with an ex Rovers player mate of mine.
I was introduced to Martin Woods and Darius Henderson and found them both to be sound blokes and more than happy to have me join in with the football banter and insight into the current Rovers situation.
