Title: Today's games
Post by: les@donr on February 11, 2017, 03:13:42 pm
What would be the best results for us from today's games.

I've only included teams in promotion/play-off positions.

Plymouth v Exeter
Carlisle v Blackpool
Luton v Crawley
Stevenage v Wycombe
Portsmouth v Accrington

My own take: first two away wins, the rest draws.

The table is shaping up to be a two horse race for the title, slog for 3rd and a slog for the play-offs.

Looked at the remaining fixtures, it will chop and change a lot. Plymouth's game in hand is around 25th March at home to Blackpool. Many twists and turns. Donny must go out to win every game...I know they will not but we have to go for it...

Keep on accumulating points one game at a time.. we can take care of Plymouth when we play them..

Id rather Plymouth win,we then increase our lead to 15 points to 4th place.
Champions would be great but promotion is the most important thing  :scarf:

Looking at it now, us and Plymouth should be able to pull away whilst the rest fight for 3rd and play offs.

Title would be nice but not that important for me.

Im not sure that Carlisle being 2 down at home is a sign that we can get into them or that they'll be desperate to bounce back

Why is Exeter catching us any good?

Don't care about Plymouth winning - Exeter (or whoever happens to be in 4th on each round of fixtures) are the ones we need to pull away from! When promotion is nailed then we can keep an eye on title challengers/our title challenge!

As things stand our scrappy hard fought draw last night and Exeter losing means we gain another extra point over 4th!

I'd guess a draw between Plymouth and Exeter would be an ideal result, both dropping points.

Correct Al, but not quite as you call it. Games in hand make a slight difference.

Before today Wycombe were the team who could gain the 4th most ponts after us, Plymouth and Carlisle. They are losing, and with Exeter losing that would mean it is Portsmouth who would become the team who can gain the 4th most points. As things stand we do indeed gain an extra point over the team doing 4th best.

Cheers Dutch -  to be fair I'd not had a proper analytical look at the tables! Lol!

Plymouth at home, while perhaps not the game when the championship is won, could effectively be the game that tips the balance in either direction.

I really don't understand why the concern on here.
WE ARE GOING UP And I am very confident as CHAMPIONS.
Does anybody seriously think this team are going to collapse.
Last night at Newport proved it once and for all that the mentality of this squad is as it needs to be.
Last season we would have been bullies into submission.
NOT THIS SEASON not a chance.

I'm of the opinion that 78 points will be enough for promotion as there are too many teams still in the mix so five wins should be enough

As I posted here (http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=260924.msg677610#msg677610) 78 points would get you up in 38% of historical cases, so somewhat unusual occurrence. I'll be happy when we reach 79.

I'm quite happy with those scores today what matters now is what happens on Tuesday 3 points required end of.

Three points would be great but those below us could be dropping points whatever we do.
We have more leeway than anybody else at the minute.
It's one game at a time.

85 points swings promotion for me.. So 22 from 16 games..

Surely we will get more than that??
