I'm struggling to think if I had a 'hero' when I first started going, but not long after that we signed Jamie Paterson and he was my first favourite player. Never took any bull, had great ability and was an influential player for us. I'll never forget him decking that Southport player when I was a ball boy for the game.

There could only be one hero for me and that is ..................................

                         THE KING,     ALICK.

RIP, what a man. I remember the day he gave me my Cup runners up medal over 51 years ago.

Difficult to define the differences between hero and a well liked player

Think my all time heros are Greeny and Copps. Both great players, who put in alot of effort and great lads off the pitch

When I first started going, before Alick, Alfie or Laurie were in the team, I guess the players I liked were Phil Robinson and Yogi Broadbent.

Matty Cauldwell for me, wonder what he ended up doing.

Snap! Although probably for different reasons to you.

Ian Duerden was a very close second
Go on then Jenny spill the beans, what were your reasons?
