Bernard has last been on loan at big Championship or League One clubs in Hull City and Portsmouth. He’s not dropping down to League Two, not at aged 22 anyway.

McCann has no link whatsoever to Southampton or Ballard, so this would be a long shot to say the least.

Not sure we need a young cb, when we have one of our own? Or, at least, I think we do (Selby seems to have thrown some doubt on that).

Ballard seems a bit of a strange call? I don’t doubt the lad may well be good, but where’s the link?

Keep in mind, GM wants battlers and ones who can ‘mix it’.

Alan, if Bobby gets his chance he will play for Doncaster Rovers but to push on he now needs to play league football, the days of loans out to clubs below league 1 are not his ambition, that is to be the first choice here or loans out at the same level or above.
He does not see u23s football as a place he would improve from where he is now.
The run of games at the end of the season, and how well he played gave him the confidence to kick on, he is ambitious for himself and the club, and sees playing for Doncaster Rovers first team and doing well as the best way to progress his career at the moment.
Other bigger clubs are tracking his progress, the club really do need to market the product carefully the way clubs like Peterborough use the market to their advantage, and if things go well Bobby will not be the last, but the first of a some talented youngsters we can develop of our own who force their way into the managers thoughts as first team players.

Need to tie him down to a long term contract will release clauses. Make him a centre piece of our team until someone comes along and pays a small ransom to him (of which that money would be invested back into improving the first team squad).

Become a selling club at great profit margins and in the midst of it all have some great prospects in the team.

Watch Bobby thrive under Cliff Byrnes guidance.

Josh Magennis was rumoured to be a target when GM was here last time, took him to Hull City , then on to Wigan who been struggling to pay wages

Agree with this. The fact that Byrne has been appointed will, I think, only help to improve Bobby even further.

This forum loves ex-players, but mention any ex-player working as back room staff and satan himself has been released.

Never dropped to this level but is 32 now. 1 year left on his Wigan contract. Wouldn’t be a trendy signing but would be useful in my opinion.

From the interview on Radio Sheffield it sounds like Bobby Faulkner will very much be part of McCann’s plans.

Peterborough are a shining example of how to spot good players, bring them on then sell for big money.

Well if Copps knows the type of player that Grant wants that’s is job now to look and discover these players.

Maybe one for SCWK but managers tend to go back to players they have worked with beforehand. Who could potentially join the Club that has played under McCann?

Let's start with Goalkeepers

George Long? Or would he be way out of our price range/budget?

Well I was way off on this one...but I've got a feeling we'll see another 3/4 ex McCann players at the club still.

Wonder if Tyler Smith could be tempted to drop to league 2 on loan. He won’t be wanted at Hull and was at Oxford at the end of the season I think

Released by Hull after a disappointing loan spell at Oxford.

He’s a more realistic option for a wide forward. Has the pace and energy for high press and making runs in behind.

Local lad too. Sounds sensible?

Thought he was going to be class in that loan spell after the debut goals he took so well. But didn’t really do much after that. Not sure any of his other moves have gone to plan but clearly he’s got so,e ability.

We need pace so if he’s affordable it’s a obvious signing imo

Seen Josh Emmanuel's name mentioned who is an athletic full-back.

Prompted me to look through the squad he worked with at Hull in L1. Dan Crowley was there on loan and is now available after leaving Morecambe. Tom Eaves hasn't had a great time at Rotherham so might become available - wouldn't be my first choice necessarily but would add some physicality and power up front.

Josh Emmanuel released by Carlisle.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up here rather than Nixon.

I like TN but I’m not sure he fits in with McCann’s idea of an attacking full back. Good defender though.

There are lots of posts relating to players who would be good in league 2. Surely we should be considering L1 and potential championship for the younger players.
Be positive!
I would be shocked if the lads are going to let the play offs go now given their current mentality when approaching the games.

He’s a one trick pony but at this level devastatingly effective. Surprised me he is 35 next month.
