What about the one at the North end in the second half.
From 100 yards away it seemed to be a decent shout for a foul on Ennis.
Any opinions on that one?

It was BUT  it should have gone the other way imo,  because if you put your head where you foot should be it should be your fault if it you get hurt , after all the game is football not head ball!

Well I can tell you for  fact that the BR players couldn't believe they had been awarded the penalty either, they were laughing at the decision and still talking about it after the game.

I’d like to see it again but in real time it looked to me like Ennis went down very easily when he realised that the ball had got away from him.

I'd have to see their penalty back, but the one where Ennis went down...never a penalty in a million years. He went down very easily, which he doesn't usually, and their defender Craig was right to have an angry word with him over it.

Ennis was not given some blatant fouls outside the box before that though so maybe felt he had to take it upon himself to try and get the referee to notice because he got no protection. But that was never a penalty on him.

Only saw it on the live broadcast and the replay right after that but... I dunno.. it felt like he has no reason to go down... could be wrong.

Nick, I agree with you.
He did have his shirt tugged by the defender but appeared to get away from him then fell to the ground.
We thought that he could still have got to the ball before the keeper and might have got a shot away.

I already have and it's for the referee to interpret the danger to players around the ball at the time of the incident and whether it is deemed to be dangerous play. It's not as straight forward as, the foot is above waist height so it's a foul.

It's the same as in rugby with the high tackle, if the player being tackled ducks down to avoid the tackle and is tackled a over shoulder height then that is deemed okay because the player has ducked into it.

In this instance, the attempted clearance was seen as being high and the players foot caught the oppositions face caught because he ducked into the ball.

Not a penalty for me, but I've never seen one taken so badly. I've seen harder backpasses.

The two Ennis ones. First half, never a penalty and he couldn't have complained if he'd been booked for diving. The one in the second half looked a stonewaller, although I haven't seen it again.

Wasn't a penalty for me but I can understand why the ref gave it given the speed it happened and their players reaction. Fact is Sadlier hoofed the clearance as their player was stooping in. Sadlier got there first but his follow through inevitably looked dangerous in a crowded area.

Looking at it on TV you can see why he gave it but I don't think there was any contact or he would have been knocked out
