Helen Byrne
Thought it was, apparently she was taken to hospital today at half time at the match she was officiating at.
Bolton v Walsall
"ong break, as assistant referee Helen Byrne was taken ill and the officials had to rejig things around. We think officials are terrible but seriously, we wish her well."

Getting full pay for half a job again eh ?
-
sort of interesting, was she having a bad game again? to be taken ill at half time twice is surely a bit strange unless of course there is something serious there in which case she shouldnt be running the line or reffing
-
Is this becoming a monthly cycle?
-
Helen Byrne
Wonder if Supporters shout "go to Helen Byrne"when she is having a bad game ?
-
From what I remember, she was having a really good game before she went off at our game.
-
I recall that the same JD hope she gets herself right and there is nothing too serious
-

Shame on you and on the posters "liking" this..
I am certain you only meant this as a light hearted thing and I don't want to be a killjoy - but we had the "period" references when this happened at the KM.
We berate the poor officials at the KM all too frequently, and rightly so in my opinion because we have had some shockers, but this woman was one of the better ones!
So when she is ill, just because she is a woman it becomes a period thing..??
-
Totally agree IDM, casual sexism still appears in football unfortunately.
The chants aimed at the One Call girls at every home game are absolutely cringeworthy, and when we had that female linesman get ill, some of the shouts from the crowd were ridiculous. My friend's partner who was at the game didn't exactly feel encouraged to come to more matches as a result.

Hey chill out, I believe in equality. I take the piss out of everyone equally.
No one is safe.
-
When she went off ill at the KMS I felt much more sorry for her than had she been a bloke. I suppose that makes me sexist, in a way.

Yep, but it's healthy to take the response you were expecting on the chin :boxing:

Good news about Helen Byrne. She has been discharged from hospital.

Excellent news

Excellent news. Same time with next months discharge then.
-
There will be a pregnant pause and then you'll be forrit again !
-
Bloody hell.
-
Time to throw the towel in.
-
 :clapping:
-
Nothing new here, footy has always been a menses game.
-
Is she on the line in Sutton game
-
Different lady. We've had the one on show tonight more than once I think and she is an excellent official. She keeps up with play very well and is clearly fitter than many male referee's assistants.

And she appears to have eyesight, something thats very rare in matchday officials these days
-
That comment is infantile Sammy.

There are four female Assistants on the National list. Sian Massey-Ellis, who was at Sutton last night, is the most well known as she lines on the Premier League. She is married to another referee who lines on the Football League.
-
Have to agree with Idler Sammy your comment was base and in my opinion unwanted on this forum.
-
To be honest, all of the female officials we have had, have been excellent
-
Wouldn't say they have all been excellent, but most have been better than the crap we usually have to put up with.

Ok in comparison they have all been excellent
