Realistically, where do you..
« on November 14, 2015, 06:31:06 pm by Rich_The_Conisbrough_Rover »
Think we will be sat in the table come Christmas and going into the Boxing Day clash with Scunthorpe? Me personally just sitting inside the playoffs or just outside, Fergie had obviously got the morale back in the camp and the football is improving weekly. UP THE ROVERS!

Top half would be ideal, and would show a significant progression under Ferguson...

... and would leave me on course to scoop my £5 @ 5/1 for a top half finish

Probably wont collect my £1 @150/1 for Promo (taken only 3 games ago) so the above may be more realistic in truth

Is that just for the top 2 places or does it also include winning the play offs?

By Boxing Day, if we are mid-table then we have a real chance of pushing on to the play offs.

We are only 3 points away from 12th place, so to speculate on being 12th at least, in 5 weeks or so, certainly isn't silly.

Take one game at a time, and accumulate points, and the table will look after itself.

It might well be silly but I'm going for 12th too. There will be implosions in form from the current leading 8 teams ; we just need to tick away at average 2 points a game to be there or thereabouts come the run-in with 8 games to go.
What we don't need are massive negative over-reactions when we have the odd defeats.
The support is there now ( minus the negative stuff) and that should give us those vital extra points. The team is not only responding to DF but also the positivity from the stands.

If we tick away at 2 points a game from now until the end of the season, we will be a lot higher than 12th

To be rising as we have done is great to bank. I can't see us dropping lower and would wager on being higher by the Scunthorpe game.

I expect a win and a draw out of the next two home games. Less than a win against Crewe would be poor. To get anything from the two away games is asking a lot, one point would be good.

I guess that could take us to 12th-10th.

Jan and Feb could well be very good months and take us to the edge of the play offs, but these next two home games will show us for who we are, the Rochdale game is huge.

Every game is equally important IMHO, but the most important, is always the next one'

There will be offdays, the team hasn't been all of a sudden fixed. The new manager has got the confidence back, we have had a nice run of games, and done the business.
At least the players are playing towards what they are capable of, i do still think one or two things need to improve, but they are getting there.
Rochdale will be a little harder, going on a form line, ourselves drawing with Wigan, and they beat Rochdale, though football doesn't always work that way, i see a victory, but it won't be easy, just from the highlights Dale looked pretty useful.

The 150/1 for promotion from a week or so back is now only 40's. The bookies are running scared 😉

We are back on the upwards curve, thank goodness. That is the main thing right now, but having taken a view at our fixtures then it is quite possible for us to mount a serious challenge from here on in. How that challenge goes depends on lots of variables, but crucially, it could hings on the January window. IF we are intent on having a right go, a lot hinges on the type of signings we may or may not make in January.

The teams at the top have a tremendous lead on us and somehow we have to start clawing that back. I can see us finishing in the top half now, something that wasn't in my mind at all just a few weeks ago, but to suggest we could make the play-off's is just a tad too optimistic for me.

I saw the Post above by Bristol RR Jnr and looked up last night ... and he was right. 2 Bookies WERE offering 250/1 for Promo (however achieved) ....  but as you say most have "dropped the odds" substantially.

Maybe time for him to drop the Jnr and me to add Snr  :ermm:

Being an eternal optimist, I just want us to get some momentum and look upwards rather than downwards.

Chipping away and maintaining 2 pts per game average will get us up there and there's sure to be some excitement ahead.
