Train tickets of the cheap variety very limited. Probably because its still school holidays, general holiday season etc. Got mine today and although reasonable definitely not a bargain, but as i have never been to the new ground it was a must.

Why are all the trains on the way there 2 hours 30 40 mins etc but only 1 hour 30 40 on the way back?

It'll be because of planned engineering. My brother-in-law came to ours from uni down in London a couple of Saturdays ago and it took him 3 hours cos the main line was shut between Peterborough and Grantham so they had to go via all the little backwater towns. Usually takes 1:30 - 1:40 depending on stops.

£58 Sheffield to Charlton. 10.27 out and 18.55 back to/from St Pancras, the journey is all British Rail, StPancras to London Bridge, London Bridge to Charlton and back.  Can't remember if it was the Trainline or Raileasy i used. Suppose the 7.25 and 21.55 could have saved a few quid but really by the time you have paid for extra food beers etc i doubt if there is much difference in reality, and you won't be knackered with the length of the day.

Curvature of the Earth, uphill on the way there, downhill on the way back, enhanced by the Earths  rotation.  :)

As a tip for getting to London, if you want to save a few bob it can be cheaper to buy a day return from Donny to Sheffield and then do Sheffield to London return on East Midlands Trains instead. Longer journey, but can sometimes save you a fair chunk.

As a mark of my commitment to Rovers I'll be walking to this game though.
