Sounds like we offered less than what they paid for him in the first place.

Maybe that's what we valued him at or perhaps it was a test the water bid?

Well, that's round one bidding over. Rovers put in a low bid and see if they bite......obviously not.
Down to Rovers now to get some idea from Scunny just how much they think he is worth.......sharp intake of breath from Rovers, then go back in with an improved bid from our first offer.

I don't think this one is over by any means.
Must admit I did like the look of him when I saw him play against us, ran us ragged.

What would people value him at? A few hundred grand?

If that.  I suspect Scunny will need him off their wage bill, hence our low oening gambit.

Well, Scunny paid undisclosed fee to was it Morecambe, so that wouldn't be in excess of 35-40K, so double that, add on a few quid for "Development", so no more than 100K. Rovers offer less than Scunny paid so maybe 30K, I guess if DRFC want him, and Scunny need to get him off wage bill that's the figure he will go for.

According to Wiki his initial contract should be up this summer, must have signed an extension.

It says in the article that he has done. Quite a good bit of business sense by Scunny really, knowing they'll probably need to get rid of him but getting him to sign a contract anyway so they don't lose him for nothing.

I hope our first offer will be our last, is he the quality player that we need to go straight into the first team. Answer no, if we do not want to be also rans in this league fighting off relegation every week then he does not compare to the players we have, are supposedly link with. So staying positive forget Duffy and come on owners back Paul to bring in real quality.

Duffy got 5 goals and 15 assists last season, in a team that got relegated. That's the same amount of goals as Bennett and Coppinger managed between them, plus an extra 12 assists on top.

He'd be in my first team.

I agree , cracking performances against us last season and one that I had hoped we'd go for. Affordable (he will be after some haggling) and plenty of potential to get better. Can't understand why people still show such a lack of foresight with some of these types of signings. We got Copps from lowly Exeter after all.

Yep! Put him in a decent team & I think he could be a very good player - he looked to me like the best player on the pitch against scunny & think he'll be up to championship standard.

He was very good for them when we played them at their place, in fact, probably their best player on the day, scored a decent free kick.

Yes I have seen him play, just questioning whether the loads of quality will be good enough for the championship. Not many other championship clubs linked with him,so we will wait and see if  signs and what he brings to the team. Lets remember players like Copps (now) and Bennett have both struggled in the championship so comparing him to them does not make him the quality required at the championship level. But if the concensus is he will, then I bow to your knowledge.

They wouldn't have done anyway, he's under 24.

No concerns about his quality. We've had plenty of time to weigh up Bennett for example in higher and lower divisions so, I think Duffy is well capable of making the step up.

For us to make a formal bid, I'm guessing there's verbal agreement that he'll come.
