Boxing Day football then!
TEAM: Dieng; Halliday, Anderson, Wright, John; Whiteman, Sheaf; Taylor, Gomes, Sadlier; Ennis.
SUBS: Lawlor, James, Daniels, Greaves, Coppinger, May, Thomas.
So James is dropped to the bench, Wright comes in. Whiteman returns in midfield, Copps is rested on the bench. Ennis for Thomas.
Bingham isn't even a sub which might be an indicator that he isn't staying beyond next week. Ditto Daniels falling out of favour.
Very tough one today but hopefully we can surprise and pick up a point...or even three!

Can’t understand gomes ahead of copps
-
He's obviously being rested. The second of four games in what, 12 days? Gomes did enough to merit staying in the side against Accrington for me.
John at left back again is the perplexing one in my opinion.
-
Not sure what Sadlier did last time out to justify him keeping his place in the team
-

Might be three at the back
With wing backs, Taylor and Halliday
Not sure 4 games in 12 days is much different though from a Saturday, Tuesday schedule

It's not, but I also wouldn't necessarily expect Copps to start every game in a fortnight of Saturday-Tuesdays too. We have to be mindful of his age and recovery needs. He has spoken of needing days off of training, so it doesn't surprise me he's been left out today.
I had a thought on us employing wingbacks today but I'll be surprised, I think it's risky against Peterborough with that front three they have. They play a tricky set-up, three at the back themselves, so we need to be sharp and be aware of the threat they can pose if they come forward at speed.

Can’t understand gomes ahead of copps
lets judge that comment after the game,,, the script i wrote we have a high energy (sorry Copps) pressurise their defenders into a mistake (they gave a lot of silly goals away early on) for 0-1 then a screamer for 0-2
for once we have a proper team
7 out of the 11 starters weren't here at the end of last season.
-
Joe Wright clanger - lucky they didn’t capitalise after he gave it away on the edge of our box.
-
Apparently we've lined up with Sheaf in the #10 position? Interesting one that.

It’s not helped him find a red shirt any more frequently yet!
-
No radio commentary today so any regular match updates on here would be much appreciated please lads.
-
Taylor on fire!
-
Couple of corners in quick succession for us, ends with Taylor shooting wide from the edge of the box on his left foot. Pretty even contest so far.
-
Get in! Sadds 0-1
Bleeding predictive text!
-
Sads!
-
Sadlier - what a goal!
-
Ggooaallll
-
Brilliant.
COYR

Get in
-
Sadlier lets the ball come across him then hits it into the bottom corner from 30 yards out. Possibly the keeper could have done better but decent hit!
-
Guaranteed a goal against Peterborough, Sadlier just loves playing against them.
-
He’s our Phil Stant
-
Cracking goal, but still Sheaf hasn't found a red shirt yet

BBC says assist by Sheaf though.
-
Great goal from Sadds. Peterborough look dangerous on the attack.
-
Taylor on fire!
Hope he’s not in too much discomfort! 🤦♂️
-

Maybe one then, but a simple sideways pass. The goal was Sads taking a pop from 30 plus yards

It was hardly an 'assit'. The fact is Sheaf gives the ball away too much.

He has done for a few games running now.
-
Sadlier so close there!
-
Are we playing with a back three?

Are we playing with a back three?
No, John is playing left back.
-
Cheers for that.

Fergie senior is in the crowd.

Fergie senior is in the crowd.
Did we ever win when the old man came to our games when DF was in charge.
-
Carnage - gotta keep our heads here.
-
What happened? Reading about a possible Toney elbow?
-
More of a hand in the face then handbags. Nothing really.
-
Taylor and Saddlier excellent first half. All round good performance.
-
Benjamin Whiteman (Doncaster Rovers) is shown the yellow card.
Ivan Toney (Peterborough United) is shown the yellow card for a bad foul.
Alex Woodyard (Peterborough United) is shown the yellow card.
-
It seems that it got a bit heated according to the bbc stats.
-
Toney fouled Whiteman, elbow/arm/hand - deserved a yellow, could have got a red. Woodyard then came over and said something to Whiteman whilst he was on the ground. Whiteman sprung up and had a go at Woodyard and all 20 outfield players piled in. Wasn't far from being a multiple red card situation.
This was after Taylor had a go at Butler for bundling him over. Peterborough using string niggling tactics towards the end of the half, trying to break the flow of the game, and it did. See what happens in the second half. This is where Moore can be strong and refocus the lads, clam them down and focus on coming out for the second half full on in the right way. But I can see this game now ending up with more than one red. More goals in this too.
Great entertainment!

Total of 6 yellows in the match now.

Game has a gone a bit flat. But this is Rovers, it will only be over when the ref blows the whistle.

It should suit us though if the game has gone flat.

Game over. Its your boy Sammy Dieng celebrating at the other end of the pitch from his goal.
-
Should be game over and the first double. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke lol
-
Could this be the catalyst that the 4-2 away win at Forest was?
-
Darren Moore 5-0 Darren Ferguson this season.
-

i was thinking that !!
-
ROVERS SUB | Ben Sheaf is replaced by James Coppinger
-
Ha ha, hoe their chairman’s enjoying himself
-
ROVERS SUB | Kwame Thomas comes on in place of Niall Ennis
-
All three Rovers goals have been quality goals and we've played very well all game. Text book away performance.
-
Game over, can never really say that at 2-0 during the game but 3 up with a few minutes to go means 3 very welcome points coming our way..
-
Well done Rovers, a superb away win and great to dump it on DF.
-
Banksesque save from Dieng there, superb :scarf:
-
Excellent performance. A welcome Xmas present and the bonus is we'll probably be spared the hateful ramblngs of our resident anti-Moore grinch.
Can't wait to hear Fergie's excuses.
-
Well done Rovers, a superb away win and great to dump it on DF.
if Rovers won the two games in hand would be 6th and in the play offs replacing Portsmouth who haave JM on the bench yet again and don't even give him a few seconds on the pitch when winning 2-0
-
Full Time well done Rovers
-
We have 3 games in hand on some teams.

Yeah, Rotherham got a 97th min winner.
-
One game at a time.. that was a really excellent result today given our recent form and recent lack of goals..
To go to Posh and score 3 tines and keep a clean sheet is bloody outstanding in my opinion.!
-
Happy bloody Christmas! Get in :santa: :rtid:
-
Great result...but stand by for those who are still of the glass half-empty species! 🤦♂️

Only took James 3 mins to get a yellow card

Double over Fergy this season (he’s getting sacked in the morning). Wasn’t expecting anything out of this game, let alone a win and a rare clean sheet

i only saw that "proper" team 3 minutes before kick off suddenly became very confident it made sense to leave Copps out all their planning for him in the bin.

Peterbro have now lost more games than ourselves.
