Well he is now in his 70s, so deserves all the credit for his passionate support and pushing for support and renewed optimism for the next season and banging the drum for season tickets. Great effort JR! Needs the nucleus of Rovers fans to respond and get a season ticket, or if not, to as many games as possible and be positive for the coming season.

I agree, probably just a cold, he looked quite well on the Dapper YouTube interviews recently. Was it all nostalgia, or did say anything exciting about the future? Guys is a legend and has done a great job of pump priming the club recently.

Yes agreed. He tends to blow his own trumpet a bit like Dickie Bird however he saved our club and did wonders apart from that silly protest at Barnsley. Good luck to him I'm sure its only a pollen allergy.

I think he's been a bit croaky the last few times I've heard him speak, age catches up with us all but no-one can doubt the fire and passion for our club is still there. It would be easy to become bitter after his plaything was taken away from him and subsequently deconstructed down to what it is now. Fair play to him for using his influence for the power of good, its testimony to how well he did for us that he still holds that kind of influence with fans.

It’s sometimes a bit ramshackle but over the years he’s been the real showman. Getting the match ball delivered by helicopter, having his Transform customers model the new kit, new Bentley for Kyle Bennett if he made double figures, all the original ex Premier League ‘stars’ signing in the early conference years. It’s a roller coaster with him but it does help put the club on the map. He’s a force of nature.

An off the cuff comment after a flying start to the season that he would give Kyle Bennett his Bentley if he scored 10 goals. Gets picked up by Soccer AM who run with a 'Get Bennett A Bentley' old-school fundraising Totaliser chart with goal scored/goals left to score. FA don't like it and suggest it would be an improper bonus payment, at which point JR backtracks and says he will let him have a ride in his Bentley instead. That snapshot in time more or less gives you a flavour of JR's whole time at DRFC.

20 yrs since he made his debut for us at Hereford aged 53

73 is Old when your 33 but just middle aged when your 68  . and young if your in your 80’s
