Just seen on Facebook that Eddie Beaglehole has passed away, for those that may not know he was in charge of the youth team that won the tournament in Scotland in the mid 80’s RIP Eddie

Eddie Beaglehole was my PE teacher at Doncaster Tech School for Boys/Danum Grammar School some sixty years ago. I believe he was 96 when he passed away a couple of days ago.Great teacher and very popular with everyone at school. RIP Eddie.

Pretty sure he was the PE teacher at Meccy Grammar in the 50s. My dad used to reminisce about how he introduced circuit training and had the first team working out to the point of vomiting.

I played with and against his two sons, Steve and Andy, over the years and both have had good coaching careers.
I believe that Steve is still with Leicester as a youth team coach.

Steve married my cousin from Thorne and is still at Leicester as the under-twenty-three coach/manager. He used to manage rovers for a while during the seventies and still gets down sometimes to watch.

Steve Beaglehole did a solid job as manager during extremely difficult financial times for Rovers, from 1991-1993.

Eddie was my PE Teacher at Danum GS as it became

He was always a great bloke even when he broke the news to us that Laurie Sheffield had been sold by Rovers to Norwich as we were lined up waiting to go in Gym

I didn't shoot the messenger !

...And on the following Saturday, Norwich City were on Match Of The Day showing Sheffield's debut hat-trick.  :(

My heart was truly broken.

I seem to remember he was our Biology teacher at Danum and took PE along with a bloke called Doug Kimber. Bit like good cop/bad cop. RIP Eddie. Lovely fella.

Dougie Kimber. Christ. That's a name from from the past!

It was Steve, I think, who had that fabulous Youth team at Belle Vue.
