Free Press coverage of Rovers has definitely stepped up a gear since this lad took it over a few months back. Doing a great job.

Hi all. Thanks for the warm words. I was actually going to start a thread and introduce myself but will use this one to do so.

Glad you are enjoying the coverage. In the coming weeks and months the DFP are going to start doing more Facebook Live chats during the week with respected voices on the club as well as more long reads and features. If you don’t already can I please tempt you into following the Facebook and X (Twitter) accounts. Hopefully yesterday can be the start of a nice run of results to head into the summer with confidence.

See you at Salford

Unfortunately, like all local newspapers, the online versions are unreadable because of the amount of clickbait adverts obscuring and distracting from the text. It’s a joke.

Good luck to you and your colleagues trying to do journalism in that context.

Great to see the recent increase in content. To be fair, in my opinion, the Free Press team have been excellent in recent years where they’ve had the opportunity. At various points we’ve had good analysis and content from Liam, Paul and Steve but I’ve sensed that resources on the sports desk became stretched and for whatever reason it couldn’t be sustained. Since Ricky took over it’s been a breath of fresh air and it adds such a lot of value to the supporter experience. Long may that continue and nice work, Ricky.

Would agree with all the positive comments. There's been a marked improvement. I particularly liked his column that suggested the club do something to recognise the work of Peter Catt over the years

Hi CottyRover. Thanks for the praise but I can’t take credit for the Catty tale. Steve Hossack wrote that one.

I can almost feel the tension rising on here at the mention of Steve Hossack!

It’s important for the free press to get our coverage right, it is a newspaper seller. Along with the rugby, the women’s game, it needs to be worth reading. To draw people back in the quality has to be there. I would hate to see there not be a free press, it’s an institution in Doncaster. Good that someone is trying to improve it.

Please.... if you want to retain the support of at least the middle aged and older Rovers supporters, don't mention Horsecrap ever agaiñ. He was and is a serious blot on the name of journalism.
