To a degree, but I thought Wagner was bang out of order carrying on like that.

I dare say the Huddersfield Town fans know the story of how they almost became Leeds United? I dare say it adds a good deal to the rivalry.

I found a link on the internet a while back although I'm hanged if I can find it now.

However... In 1919-20 Huddersfield Town were on their uppers and Leeds City had just been disbanded for making illegal payments to players during WW1.

A group of businessmen in Leeds proposed to buy up the ailing Town and move the club to Leeds. A very similar situation to MK Franchise in fact. The Football League was broadly in favour. A local campaign of fundraising and the willingness of some Huddersfield businessman to underwrite the club's debts meant that the move didn't happen.

The people in Leeds then set up a new club, Leeds United, and successfully applied for Football League membership. Huddersfield Town appointed Herbert Chapman, ironically formerly the manager of the defunct Leeds City, as their manager and went on to win Division One three years in succession in the 1920s.

So it all ended well for both clubs, but it could have been so much different...

I think there is one thing that unites all the other Yorkshire clubs is their collective hatred of L**ds.

It's not just Yorkshire clubs fans that hate Leeds, I work with supporters of Liverpool,West Ham, Carlisle and they hate them as well. They are a club you support or hate

They were my sort of second team in the 60s purely because they came from Yorkshire.
I have no problem with them or their supporters that I know. A lot of people that live in or around Donny seem to hate them because they know or went to school with Donny Whites.
This wasn't a problem in the late 60s and early seventies.
