Niall Mason

What an excellent signing this lad has been. At his age, to have slotted into so many different positions and contributed positively in each one shows he ought to have a really strong future in the game. Very good footballer.

It'd be great if we could secure him in the longer term. Same goes for Jordan Houghton, obviously, but Mason deserves the plaudits too. They've been two excellent loan signings.

Stunned to read criticism of him a few months back (admittedly on the Facebook page, not so much on here).

He's been brilliant, very talented and another who looks to have enjoyed it here.

The way the club keeps things quiet these days I wouldn't at all be surprised if a deal was already in place.

He's certainly more than held his own in this league.
If we win the title as well, to receive a medal at his age will send his confidence sky high as well.

Mason has slotted in very well at rovers. He has played consistently well in different roles requested of him. Well done and proved his worth to us and only a youngster to boot. Cannot believe there are fans who still criticise him as can be heard in the South Stand - obviously they are not fully appreciative of the finer arts of football hold up play, breaking up opposition possession and distribution!
He always makes himself available for wide runs on the flank and always does the simple but effective things. Keep it up NM.

If all other players were fit, where would he play.

Just what i was thinking whilst reading it.
Pretty fair assesment though , he has done well in a very good side. Hope we can sign him on our books.

I would keep him as a squad player as he can cover a few positions, but I think McCullough is a much better holding midfielder than him as is houghton should we resign him. I also think we need to sign a proper left back in the summer but would deffo try and keep him as back up.

He has been so versatile and from the two interviews he has given on PLAYER he appears to be very pleased with  the challenge of playing out of position at left wingback .He is much like Alcock with his willingness to play anywhere he is needed .

Squad player is slightly unflattering - he's been outstanding and above all consistent...

Would you play him ahead of McCullough or houghton in midfield ?? We need to bring in a proper left back in the summer so i wouldn't start him there either but would be a good player to have in the squad to cover numerous positions

The fact is wherever he has played he has never let us down... that sort of player is hard to find.
We don't have any guarantees that we will get Houghton - and although McCullough has come back well, I think that Mason has shown he can do the job also...

No brainer for me that we sign him if possible - and I bet he's a regular if he does...

After the way McCullough has performed since his comeback there are no guarantees that he will be with us next season.
All the top sides have around 17 or 18 players, any of whom can come straight into the team without it being noticeable weakened.
This is how we have been over the last few weeks and is one of the reasons why we have retained our top spot.
If the budget allows we should try to get Mason back next season as he has proven himself as a superb player.

None of our players are going anywhere.
The only way anyone that DF wants to keep will be allowed to leave is if we were offered silly money. We do not need to sell, the club has owners and CEO who run the club prudently.
The future is bright the future isn't ORANGE it is RED & WHITE HOOPS

The truth us though Campsall that we don't knôw whether any of our players will leave in the summer do we.
Obviously we don't want them to go but money talks, not just transfer money for players under contract but wages money offered to players.
Players do come and go.

Mason could very well prove to be a valuable utility player.

Along with Blair, Alcock, McCullough, Rowe and Copps we have players who can comfortably switch roles even during a match which gives DF more of a tactical advantage.

There won't be many teams in League One that have the same flexibility which holds us in good stead.

If DF also continues to recruit quality in specialist positions we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Well it sounds like we are in with a shout of bringing him in so that's really encouraging news.

DF will be keen to make some early announcements and given his prematch interview, Mason is likely to be one of them....fingers crossed!

He spent 3 years at Real Madrid as a young lad. What an experience that must have been.

Agree with Jonathan, I've been very impressed with Mason this season and I'd be delighted if we could sign him.
